Northridge

I believe there was a recent thread about a gentleman getting a new Northridge grinder. Try a search or scroll through a few pages. It looked like a very nice grinder.

Ive been checking out their manufacturing videos, all parts cnc machined. Looks like they make a fine grinding machine. Been looking at the Esteem, Pheer and Northridge. Waiting to see what other tooling arms they produce, but leaning heavily towards the Northridge followed by the Esteem.

I'm interested in one also. It appears to be a long established company entering the knife grinder market. Everything looks great about it. However I think they are a week or so away from being full production for out the door product. I've emailed with questions and for pricing. In fact I just got a email saying to check out Northridge tools facebook page. It shows the operation along with a tool rest that will be available for it! Looks awesome. Don't quote me but pricing is $899 for the frame with a flat platen, all the wheels etc but NO MOTOR or VFD. I believe the complete setup is around $1,600. It looks very well thought out and made with top quality materials.

I just got off the phone with the boss.

899 gets you the body, all the wheels, a flat platen, a contact wheel "I believe 6 inch" and the tooling arm.

The boss seems like a great guy, and theres a good chance i'll be getting one to replace my current grinder.

I have the base unit and I'm very happy. The rest of the attachments are on the way. The pics in a shop are mine. The ones in the office are theirs to show the newest rotating attachment. I can't gives much comparative feedback because this its my first 2x72, but I can say I absolutely love it. Everything about it is top quality. It looks like a show piece not a shop tool. :-)

Don't be in a hurry to get rid of any 2x 72 that works. You want to them set up to speed your work like one with small wheel on it and the other platen, or different grit belts etc.. I always like to have two or more at the ready, if you can afford it, keep both.

Hey Jeff, where did you getc the stand?

The stand looks like a Harbor Frieght stand like I used for several different supports. Looking forward to Jeff's answer.

I agree, that tool rest arm looks NICE!!!! can be set to most any position - they did some real thinking on that.

Laurence Is correct about keeping your old grinder. I have two grinders and if I just had the space I would add a third so one could have a small wheel, one for flat platen, and one for surface grinding. Come to think of it four would be better!! That Northridge grinder would fit right in. Larry

Correct. Its a $50 Harbor Frieght grinder stand. They are inexpensive and just the right size for everything I use them for. I'm going to grab a few more next trip. Awesome for angle grinding too, just by clamping or adding a vice.
