Norton India vs. Crystolon

The only thing that's needed is some sort of base that will keep the stone from slipping.

I went to the home center and bought a roll of rubber cabinet shelf liner, I cut it into pieces about 1-2 inches larger than my stones. If I'm working with a thinner stone, I put down a piece of liner then one of my larger stones then another piece of liner then the thinner stone on top.

That rubber honey comb kitchen shelf and drawer liner works a treat to keep the stone still :)
