Norton or McAfee antivirus?

Loaded Question...

They both do a good job. I like Norton better but McAfee is a fine product as well. As long as you keep them up to date and configured correctly all should be well with either one.

I like the user side of Norton better. The most important thing is to keep the virus definitions current (I do mine daily ;)).

I use Norton, and haven't gotten infected since I started using it (knock on wood). That's good enough for me.

I started out with McAfee, but it had glitches with my Windows. Switched to Norton and it has been flawless.

I recently cleaned up a computer that had several trojans and other viruses on it despite being protected by McAfee. I personally use AVG too, free, updates all the time, and works without problems. Also is easier on system resources than McAfee or Norton.

Norton is great if you keep it current. I have mine set to do a full scan each day. Also try ADAWARE for spyware. It is freeware and you'll be amazed at the crap that is on your computer the first time you run it. Get it a cnet.com.

You would be VERY well advised to install Spywareblaster as well. Stops lots of nasty things getting into your PC from websites.

Another good tip, stop using that poxy Microsoft Explorer. Get yourself the latest version of Firefox. (Vers. 0.9.2 I think ...)

Yet another vote for AVG from www.grisoft.com. It's free. Did I say Free? Yes, it's free all the time, no expiration, no (paid) registeration. Just plain free. And it works just as good, if not better than, then big names...

Right now my McAffe anti-virus is DOA. I tried to update it a couple of weeks ago and now it won't load or anything. I get nothing but error messages.
I used Norton on my last comp before I sold it and was happy.

I find Norton finds and blocks more viruses but McAfee cleans more effectively.

IMO Norton Internet Security (includes anti-virus, fire-wall, parental control etc).

Another AVG user, for about two years. No problems, auto updates, etc. Highly reccomended by the "Screensavers" guys, who point out that both Norton and McAfee had to recently patch holes in their systems.

I run the free Zone Alarm firewall, Spybot, and a new utility called BHODemon, which checks for Browser Helper Objects on your system. These can be sneakily installed and function as keystroke mappers when you acess banking sites.

Yep, Blades
I've been using Trend Micro for a couple of years now and found it very good. Used Norton before that and I wouldn't go back to it now.

I vote for trend micro PC-cillin. I have used it for over a year with no problems. Just upgraded over the phone. Great support.

Another vote for the Trend PC cillin. I have used it for three years now. It is great. Auto updates are great also.
