Norway mountain plateau hike!

Wow.. great read. Great details and pics. Thanks for taking us along.

I was irritated at myself that i hadnt taken good care of my legs as i should. I have since made a decision, that im going to alter the way i train from now on. Im going back to basics and focusing on the fundamental strength exercises, the big 3: benchpress, squats and deadlift. No fancy training programs with isolating exercises no more. Its back to Bill Starrs 5x5 program coupled with running and swimming.

Thatll definitely keep me fit for my job and see me ready for my next mountain trip.

should join us at the W&SS workout thread :)

Thanks for posting those pics! In 2000, I was in the same area and did some hiking. Norway is an amazing place. That made my day.:)

Excellent post Prop! That is absolutely beautiful county. I agree with the other fellas, great report.

Great report and great pictures. Made me want to go out in the car and make the 4 hour drive over there now.

Thanks for sharing that was a beautiful post and my 11 year old also enjoyed it..I wonder why there are no trees anywhere? You would think with all that water trees would be everywhere?

Thank you all for the kind comments. Im glad to read that you enjoyed my writeup.

Just curious, PropThePolecat, what kind of pants were you wearing for your trip? Thanks.

They are a swedish brand called Haglofs, as seen here: http://www.haglofs.com/en-us/products/clothing/layers/climatic/men/rugged_mountain_pant_en-us.aspx

I imagine its because it is too cold or snow cover persists for too much of the year for trees to survive. All that water comes from snow that has melted during the short summer.

what a wonderful post. Thank you very much for the pictures, and the running commentary. I almost felt like I was tagging along. :D

Awesome pics. rough looking snadscape. Spiders living there is unreal. Our planet is just a awesome place at times.
Looks and sounds like you had a good time.

very nice my friend, always wanted to go to Norway (grandma was norwegian)

Once you use a decent pair of hiking poles there is no going back. I am 40 with 2 surgeries on my right knee 15 yrs ago from being hit from behind by a walkie forklift in the slaughterhouse.

The wife and I did a 14km hike 2 weeks ago with an elevation gain of 1160 metres and without a pole I would have been in rough shape(2 advil as soon as I got to the top and 2 more on the way down), you also have to gain and drop 600 metres on the foothill before the real mountain.

My wife's feet were giving out on her and the last 2km down was slowed to a crawl by flashlight.

Nice small tent, I have an outbound clone of it that has seen 15yrs of hard use

Sorry about your albino buddy as well, they are fun little guys

Regards

As others have said...felt like being there. What great photos. I want a drink from that mountain lake and a few casts of course:p
