Not a bad price for a LE...

i had 70$ dialed in to snip but
got a lead on some one that might have old knives..
so did not do it...

I wouldn't bid on it or any similar knife.

Limited editions should feature more than a bit of etching.

If they don't present some actual intrinsic value, some added beauty, a special steel, a special wood, a useful feature that is unique......then they are simply a contrived collectible.

Such contrived things don't really interest me at all......even if they're 1 of 13 and thus artificially rare.

Everyone has their own opinion, and right or wrong, they are welcome to it.

That one wasn't a Limited Edition but a special Projects knife. Here's the label from the box.

Garryale was asking about this. I wonder if he got it, but it shot from $41. to $66. in the last few seconds. Still, someone got a good deal.

considering that the Yellowhorses are $150 for basically the same process, I grant the yellowhorse native steel blades are nicer, but still machine produced.

I like it...

There's another one just like it listed with a BIN of $115 + shipping. I made an offer of $75 + shipping and sent the seller a link to the one listed above. He declined and counter offered at $100. I declined. I'd like to have it, but not that much.

Me too, I'm trying to find it in the Special Projects list. There must be some signifigance to the #630.

There is info on this knife in the 12/04 BCCI news letter from Chuck Buck.
However, no info on how many were to be made.

I remain totally underwhelmed.

Isn't it basically a $30 Wal-Mart knife with some etching, stamping and scribbling added?

Oh.....wait.....it does have a leather sheath.

Ok, now I get it.

:)

Isn't a 3 Dot just an old run of the mill basic 110 that most of us carried back in the day?

The Three-Dot is different in that it was the end of an era.......last of the 440C and maybe the first and only BOS heat-treat of a 110 in 440C.

A heavy-duty, slabside classic at the age of 30.......it too, has a leather sheath.......also......it doesn't look like a damned billboard.

:D

It is a collectable for those who have an interest in Buck Knives Inc. history. It was a limited final year run from the El Cajon plant to mark the move to Idaho. It was a major transition in the company and in the lives of those involved. For these people and for people who appreciate the significance of it, this is a special knife. It represents the end of a major chapter.

If I wasn't committed to other purchases this month, I would have bid.

Well, to each his own......just saying......it's not my cuppa tea, that's all.

:)

This is a very nice knife, i bought a few at the idaho factory, still think i have 3 or 4 left, i remember selling on ebay back in 05-06 and they brought around 140-160 , very few of them for sure and will always be collectible.
