Not a BWM LE, But Still Sweet

I did some more sanding on my stripped convexed BWM blade surface today. The INFI dimples are pretty much gone, but that bubble imperfection is deep, so it will have to remain. I went from 80 grit to 180 grit to 400 grit, and then gave the blade the Scotchbrite Wheel treatment. This knife is so fast and sharp, it may replace my DFLE as my favorite bush knife.

Maybe I can step up my work from crappy ghetto satin to something beautiful like that.

It just takes time, Resinguy. Unless you have the really expensive belt grinders.

That is freakin awesome HD, and it is better than a LE cause it cost only half as much.

Great job HD on the BWBM, but then again all your stripped blades look fantastic in my book. :thumbup: :thumbup:

Looks great, two questions though.

Was the sanding done by hand, with a block?

Did you take the handles off to strip it?

Sanding was done on a 1" x 42" Kalamazoo belt sander. I left the handles on, as I always do with Busses. Paint stripper does not hurt them. I used a scotchbrite wheel on a 1/2" arbor bench grinder to clean up the ricasso and pommel, but left the rough INFI dimpled finish on those parts. To sand them flat, I would need to remove the scales and then reattach them. I have done that on some Ranger Knives with removable scales, and they came out nice.

Looking Good :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
I'm gonna try that someday
That's when I get the time

purty purty and nasty sharp I'm sure!

Was just thinking about you this morning HD, hadn't seen you posting much the last week or so.
