Got the BK2 in yesterday. I have been anticipating for 2 weeks. Love the blade. It seems like a real workhorse. The grip for me(and I don't have small hands) seems a bit much. Not user friendly IMHO only.

Throw an old bike tire tube on it, skateboard grip, or burn some holes with a solder. Or purchase some scales. I know this throws off the price point but the factory scales are made to reduce hotspots when not wearing gloves. I for one don't enjoy them and wish they were micarta from e factory but I guess ppl say this would drive up cost.

Yep, I've had good luck with hockey tape.

The BK2 grip is a bit thick for me. I think it actually has to do with the thickness of the steel on the knife itself as my other large Beckers are perfectly fine in the hand. You actually will forget about it as you use the knife, but yeah, I totally hear ya on the issue.

This probably isn't much help, but some of the Becker scales are larger than others. I took the scales off of one of my Kabar BK-4s (thinner) and put them on my BK-12 (thicker).

Doc

I'm a fan of the bk2's thickness. In fact, I added liners to my bk9 because the handle was just too thin for my hands. Its hard to make a one size fits all, but I think they got it pretty close.

If it bothers you tons, you can thin out the scales by sanding them some on the backside on something flat.

The micarta scales are thicker than the stock scales so itll only hurt the issue

While this is true they are not that much thicker. The nice thing about the micarta is its grippy. It is also solid so it could easily be sanded down to fit your hand. Just another idea. Hopefully you find a solution that works for you.

That's a shame I saw somewhere that the TKC G10 scales are thinner ??

well, not user friendly for you... nothing is universal sadly.

some of us love them.

but if they don't fit, modify them. bolt on. special bonus!

as for grip, they've been tested with oiled hands, and stabbing into a metal drum. good stuff.

I love the grivory on my 2. I have long fingers and the scales thickness is perfect. In wet weather and wet hands that grivory is awesome.

If you are like me you have nothing to worry about, use them and you will grow to love them. I was sure I hated them until I used my BK9 to clear a ton of downed tree debris this winter with no gloves !! Wet and cold my hand never slipped and didn't get tired. They seem off until you really use them . Good luck and enjoy the little beast!

The BK handles are as close to "one size fits all" as I've seen for a product that's intended to be used by consumers of all sizes, shapes, and backgrounds. Close to 20yrs ago when I first saw photos of the Becker lineup I thought WTH? They "looked" cumbersome, clubby, and over-built simply to make a statement. I was 100% wrong, and basically blew my chances to start collecting and using Beckers back when Camillus was making them. They're the most comfortable handles of just about any hand tool I can think of this morning after only one cup of coffee, and I actually prefer the feel of the BK2 to the other's with thinner tangs. Of course YMMV because we're all built differently.

The nice part about knives. If there is one you don't like, get rid of it and get something more suitable for you. I'd suggest a 16.
