Not a fan of the BK2 grip

The nice part about knives. If there is one you don't like, get rid of it and get something more suitable for you. I'd suggest a 16.

The 16 isn't quite the same kind of knife, so its not quite a direct conversion, but I totally agree with you. The "tweeners" (BK15/16/17) have much narrower handles, and may fit the OP's hands better.

If it were me, I'd get a piece of sandpaper and lay it on a piece of glass/countertop/bench/table (anything flat), and sand the scales down slightly. Even just 1/16 - 1/32 off of each side can make a huge difference in how the knife feels.

As I said before, I actually added liners under my BK9's scales to make it thicker/more like the BK2, as the handle was just too narrow. But all it took to make it feel "right" was two 1/32in liners (one under each scale), which really isn't all that much. So yeah, I'd slowly sand them down, making sure that you're not bowing them at all, and stop when you find something comfortable for you .

OK, OK the grip is really starting to grow on me. May still try some G10 though. I also like the sanding Idea, except you can't un-sand something.

That's a good point doc. Is there any chance you could find a bk10/7/9/5/4 locally? Those are all 3/16in thick, but have the same scales a they are overall thinner. So if you could find one you may see if you prefer the thinner grip. And if you don't like it after sanding, you could use liners like some of us do to make those same knives thicker.

A common source of plastic for the liners is from old DVD cases that you might have laying around.

Start with 220 and go lightly. It doesn't take much.

I hit my BK10 scales lightly with some 100grit and it was enough for me.

You can always progress thru finer and finer grits to sand it back to smooth.

And there are extra factory scales floating around. Awhile back, Dex was selling sets for $6~$8.

Chuck Norris said Becker was too thick, so after sheathing 1000000 times in an hour he thinks it's just fine now. Damn, abrasive old sheaths. Now he has a BK10.
