I just got this today, an O'Katz Handmade custom chopper all the way from Malaysia.

Run Khukri Kat! Run! I like it alot! The frog eye extension adds a bit of extra forward chopping power. It does have a slight recurve! Very nice Philll. Do you know what kind of steel they use? Ok off to their website for some more eye candy! Do they have more?

The steel is from a giant granite cutting saw blade.

I special ordered it from Katz and had my Malaysian friend ship it to me.

Looks like a really polisher version of the farm knife. Very cool:)

Let me pick my jaw up from the floor... Does O'Katz have a website?

Edit: Painfully nice!

Oh .. you already got it .. congrats to you Phil :)
It's a great chopper .. I saw it in O'Katz workshop that day when I visited him .. and he successfully tested it to chop a Cengal wood in front of me himself
Cengal wood is one of a tropical hardwood with Janka Hardness of 2130 pounds.
IMHO that chopper is having a hardness of about 59 - 61 HRC at the cutting edge.

The Barong Semenanjung (i.e. the 2nd picture) is another great cutter best suit for a camp knife.
I got one myself and I like it very much.

I (i.e. from Kuala Lumpur) and Jay (i.e. from Penang) went to O'Katz's place (i.e. in Teluk Intan) on Nov 4 whereby Jay collected yours for shipment and I collected mine (i.e. a special ordered parang called as SOD).
This is my SOD, Phil :)

I really appreciate O'Katz's cutting edges and I'd tested them for cutting and chopping with results at par with the cutting edges of those cutters/choppers made by Burt Foster, Chuck Richards and Matt Lamey.
Anyhow most of O'Katz works are having a forge/rough finish and meant for user :o

Thanks for sharing philllll and congrats again.

Thanks too Pak Mohd for sharing your SOD pic. Looks awesome!

That SOD is a beauty, Mohd, thanks for sharing. I agree that O'Katz does a wonderful job with the grinds and the cutting edge.

Do you have any idea what steel the large granite saw blade is made of?

Nepki, your barong is very nice and I like the other knife, it looks sort of like a small latin machete.

The steel is from a giant granite cutting saw blade.

I special ordered it from Katz and had my Malaysian friend ship it to me.
Giant saw blade?
I wonder if one could design a knife which still has a few of the original saw teeth on its back or the butt end.
