This is the email I sent my family and friends today and I'm posting it here too save me some typing, which is very hard for me, a helluva lot harder than yesterday! :grumpy:

[FONT=&quot]I did not get good news today with the results of the EMG Dr. Hastings, my neurologist, performed this morning!!!!:thumbdn: :grumpy:
He was very concerned when he finished with the EMG test this morning and immediately ordered a MRI to be done asap, which happened to be as soon as I could get across the road to the Spine and Specialty Hospital where I had my back surgery done.
It didn't take long for the Radiology Department to get me signed in and get
started, they gave me 20mgs of Valium so that I could stand being in the close area of the MRI tunnel and it wasn't long before I was a very happy camper, besides with the Valium they wouldn't have to hold me there for two
hours like they would've had they sedated me, which was why I did it that way.:D
Dr. Hastings, my neurologist told us to call back at 2:00 p.m. to get the results and so we did. They confirmed his suspicions of one, or more, pinched nerves in my neck, so I'm sure there is another spinal surgery in my
future.:(
My neurosurgeon is away on vacation and will be back Monday and Dr. Hastings will speak with him and let him know surgery needs to be done asap to help keep the danger of permanent nerve damage lower.

I am having too type this with one finger now because the extra pressure I was putting on my hands and arms this morning has caused my right fingers, hand, and arm to become even number and my fingers won't do what I want them to do. Also it caused my whole right side to become weaker, which causes my right leg too drag as well and the radiology guys had too wheel me out too the car and pretty much put me into the seat and then lift my right leg in.
They asked Barbie how she was going to get me in the house and she told them she was going to stop at the volunteer fire dept just down the street from us and get a couple of big burly firemen to come down and help me into the house, which is exactly what she did.:D
Being the stubborn old ndn I am I kept working my legs as much as I could and forced them too move as much and as far as possible all the way home and I was able too regain enough strength too walk into the house with some aid
and support to keep me from falling!
So that's where things stand right now. Dr. Hastings told me to be very careful with my neck in the interim, which I plan to do religiously! I'm hoping some rest will help the increased problems in my right side tonight
as trying too type too email or post with one finger on one hand is the berries and as slow as
molasses along with the myriad of mistakes I make that I have too go back and correct.:(

So far I have made it everywhere I needed too be in the house since we've been home but methinks I am going to opt for a five gallon bucket next to where I sleep tonight.;)
I have been pretty shaky the last couple of times I've been up and Barbie gets pretty angry if I don't wake her when I need to get up at night because I am really, really, stiff and a helluva lot more shaky and if I should fall she could never get me up!
So I guess better to be safe than sorry, But if any corncobs need to be used *I* will get to the bathroom somehow. <VBESEG> :D

Hope your neurosurgeon will have better news for you Yvsa.

Get some rest my friend.

Sorry to hear that, Yvsa.

Going up to Qualla Boundary or "territory" tomorrow. Will be saying strong prayers for you in the Nantahala Forest of the ancients.

Yvsa, believe me when I say I know how scary it is to be dealing with nerve issues. But if there's something I've learned, it's that medicine can do a lot more than it used to! If you have a good team of docs working on your case, you'll be better than fine. Heck, I'm in a pretty tricky spinal situation, but these docs and their new techniques are astounding. Whatever you do, keep hope, Yvsa. Keep hope and know that you'll be fine as long as you keep hope and keep trying!

We're all here, Yvsa. Seriously, we all care, and we're all listening. And the beauty is, it's reciprocal. We all give and receive a little. And it's all good. :)

I'm so sorry about the bad news.
Good news is they know what's wrong.
Also you still have your sense of humor.!

Please, please use assistance when you need it. Don't risk damaging the nerves further....and having Barbie run down to the V.F.D. to get the guys to help you up would just be plain embarassing.

Seriously, take care my friend.

prayers up.

Very sorry to hear about your problems! It makes my aches and pains unimportant. Wishing you luck and hope there is improvement for you in the near future.

I'm sorry to hear this bro. Prayers from Atlanta for your health.

very sorry to hear this, but I am glad they know better what it is, and I am amazed at how you keep your spirits up!

I am sorry you are suffering so much, but you really inspire a lot of people!

You have a treasure for a wife!

More prayers from here.

Your sad but hopeful friend,

Tom

My mother's got trouble with loosing feeling/mobility in her hands and it took a helluva time for the medics to figure it out, it's only when a new doctor (afaicr, from Finland!) arrived recently at her local hospital that progress seems to be getting made.
For some years now she has a couple of disintegrated vertebrae owing to osteospirosis that went undiagnosed for many years (docs all assumed her back and arms pain to be rheumatism or arthritis till the damage was done and it was too late to do very much). The rest's a knock-on effect of that.

Look up ankylose spondulitis.
