Hello to all -- just wanted to say if you have sent me messages sorry i have not gotten back till now -- my lower spine problems have gotten real bad lately -- its bad enough with the regular pain i go through but now i am having extra pain and muscle spasms in my lower spine. Some nights i wake up at 3 am yelling and trying to get from the bed to a chair and standing in the middle of the room not sure whether to cry or scream

any way it hurts real bad sometimes just to sit here and type and i got online first time in a few days and had several messaged here at the forum and piles of emails -- i like this forum and especially the people at the HI cantina i just haven't been online much past month or so any way -- hope you all are doing well

Eric

sorry for your sufferings

have you tried theraputic grade essential oils to help manage the pain?
have you looked into medical qigong to maybe help?
what about acupressure/acupuncture/medical cupping?

i wish you well beings and good healing

Hey, dude. Hang in there, maybe a new treatment, like stem cells or something new and untried, will pull through for you, though trusting in an experiment in progress is not altogether a sound place to put trust. Peace. Hope it gets better for you again.

Eric: I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I enjoy your posts, particularly about the dog rescue; you're a good dude.

I hope that you get some relief. Have you had the root problem diagnosed?

Smoke and Prayer sent for relief from pain and suffering.
hang in there, my friend.

Smoke and prayers from Reno, Eric

You probably did but did you go get yourself checked out yet?

I've watched my dad go through many forms of body pain all my life from broken neck to broken toes to torn muscles in arms to thumb infection that spread up his arm, etc. Construction work would do that to dad a lot.

Hope your body treats you better soon! As you can see, we're all behind you.

This is going to sound crazy (to most folks), but from the sound of your pain, have you considered acupuncture? I have a sister with very bad back problems. She saw a Chinese doctor in Atlanta who performed acupuncture on her, and she swears by it.

thanks all -- i have had the acupuncture --- my current surgeon says he does want to do surgery because he is sure it will make things worse ( i trust him ) and he work with my pain management Doctor that i trust as well they are a team of doctors at the "Virginia spine institute" -- i found them after 6 or so other doctors that i was getting tired of -- they work on a lot of pro and Olympic athletes and have a top notch reputation

i have had several (steroid anti inflammatory ) epidural injections as well as 6 facet injections and i take narcotics but as prescribed -- but lately these muscle spasms have had me up all night trying to figure out weather to scream or cry -- its like having a flat head screw driver jammed through my tail bone every step i take --- 30 mg oxy codone doesn't even touch it

but thanks for all the ideas -- i will look into the "medical qigong.' all the other alternative medicine i like and am open minded ab out and some i do -- but medical costs can get $$$$$$$$$$$$

i have 4 or 5 different things wrong but basically the discs and nerves at the bottom 4 vertebra are all jammed up

thank you all so much -- positive thoughts and prayers are always welcome -- much back to you all

Eric

That does NOT sound pleasant Eric....not pleasant at all........I don't know what else to say, a screwdriver up your tail kind of trumps all consolatory language I know of.... I wish I could be EMPATHETIC, but I cannot without lying to you, so I guess that is that.... Peace.

Dude,
I got the spinal cord stimulator implant from St Jude last month. Its a miracle. I know what it's like to get those peripheral nerves smashed due to crushed pads at L4 L5, no amount of drugs could take away the pain. I swear I wish it would happen to all the docs that cut on me for 8 yrs before.

Thanks Jay and David – I try to do the exercises (stretches) and yoga type stuff,
Jay what I have read about the qigong stuff sounds great – meditation inner healing and all the alternative medicines are great right now I am just tring to get functional enough to pursue some of these,

LeeBrewer – I was looking at these displays at the offices of what appeared to me to me something like an internally mounted “tens unit “ does that sound like what u are talking about ?
When I asked my Doctor about the unit they had on display he told me that it was only something that they try after surgeries have not worked.

I am going to ask Monday if he thinks another procedure simaler to the facet injections the (burning / radio wave heating) of the nerve endings would work.

Thanks to you all for all the suggestions and support
Eric

Sorry to hear you are having a rough spell, Eric. A buddy of mine just had the Tens implant done, and is absolutely thrilled with the results.
I am scheduled for steroid injections along the lumbar spine on Mar 2nd, we'll see how that goes. The last injections, using Marcaine, had no effect at all.
Once upon a time, I was an X-Ray Tech at Mt Vernon Hosp, and Mt Vernon Orthopedics. I always thought very highly of Drs Bruno and Munters.
Dr Yung J You at Commonwealth Ortho did my clavicle repair back in 91, and Dr Petrone at Commonwealth has seen me for an ACL strain as well.
Having worked with Dr You at Mt Vernon, as well as been a patient, I have every confidence in him, same with Dr Petrone.
I get my care at the VA Hosp in Richmond now, that is why I am not seeing any of the above for my back.
I go to get my cane today, and some weighted utensils so I stop flinging peas and mashed taters at the cat while I eat.
I hope they get you some relief soon!!

Mark
