not doing very well latley

Best wishes Eric, the pain you are going through sounds ridiculously bad. Don't think I could inflict it on my worst enemy, hoping you will pull through.

Thanks to you all for the encouragment, ideas for healing and just plain support

It seems there are sevral of us around here that are going through some kind of "hell" -- i heard somwhere that "when you are going through hell, just keep going"

whenever i lite up my fire pit out back and throw some sage into it you all are in my thoughts
Eric

That's actually a song, I'm pretty sure. It's country music, not always my cup o' tea, though I like some artists from that genre and their music, like (embarrassingly enough) The Band Perry, I think the lead lady has a gorgeous voice, but that's just me. Anyway, yeah, take care of yourself Eric, we're all rooting for you (in conquering your rather mind bending pain). Peace, man.

It was briefly mentioned earlier, but I strongly suggest that you ask about "radio frequency" treatment.

Essentially, they insert a heavy gauge needle into your problem areas, then feed a smaller wire or needle through which "kills" the nerve endings that are causing your pain. This procedure sounds gruesome, but your actual experience is very similar to getting a regular injection.

My nomenclature may be off (I'm not a doctor), but I've had this procedure performed on me about 10 times over the last 5-6 years with great success. I've gotten from 6 mths- 1 year relief with each treatment. Eventually the nerves seem to rejuvenate themselves, but the relief is fairly long-lasting.

You might also want to find out if there are any "core-training" exercises you can do (via a physical therapist) to strengthen the muscles in your stomach and back. I have three ruptured discs, arthritis spurs and severe degenerative disc disease, and the core exercises have helped me more than anything else I've tried, including the RF treatments.

Look into these things and see if they help. Good luck amigo. I can relate!!

I've heard lots of good things about the book "Pain Free" by physical therapist Pete Egoscue.

Hi Eric,
I've been there.
I remember standing in a doorway clutching the frame while my spine produced excruciating pain that I didn't think was possible.
The spasms were so bad they pulled my SI joint out of place.
There are no words to describe the pain.
It sounds like you are doing everything you can.
I'm sure you're on a strong muscle relaxer too, in addition to the oxy's, to help with the spasms, yeah?
Good luck, and hang in there man...

Bill

Is medical pot legal for where you live? Sounds like you're in a lot of pain, and anything that soothes that pain is worth considering.

Thank you -- All good ideas; I have good doctors and they are helping find best way plus i try the alternative stuff

Yes Pete -- he changed to an anti spasm / muscle relaxer -- the narcotics help with the regular pain that i always have but they don’t even touch the extra pain (spasm pain)

That sounds crazy saying regular pain and extra pain but that really is how it is

I try to do the core training and exercises sometimes though they like to kill me

Some days I can’t do the core training or exercises but i keep trying all I can do is lay here trying to keep my mind right

When it was real bad I removed all the firearms from my garage apartment and took to the house for my roommate to keep – (was having bad thoughts)

Thanks all -- Eric

Damn Eric, I hope you get some relief soon my friend! I've had bad lower back pain, and I don't think there's anything much worse, but this sounds like an entirely different level of agony I've never experienced.

Smoke and prayers from the Central Coast.

All the best,

Norm
