Hello.
almost a month ago I bought my fist sebenza. A small unique design that i feel in love with browsing around the web... not what i originally planned but it was love at the first sight.
I decided for a small because a knife of slightly less than 3'' won't give me problems anywhere i go, here in USA and when visiting my family in europe.
having a sebenza in my hand caused two major changes.
the first one is that i realized that it won't be the last one, the second is that i finally sold a bunch of knives that i never used and never really liked.
I kept the sebbie, a BM210, A MT Ultratech that came as a trade adding a little money, a BM 3550 and a Hide Away Knife. that's all....

now, the problem.....
It has been less than a month, and i already feel the urge to buy another sebbie....
I was planning to buy a large sebenza for my outdoor needs. i thought a plain one would be the ideal candidate, but then i saw that i could get an amazing
wood inllay for a tad more... I really like the TAMBOTI Inlays one, and the CREME MAMMOTH IVORY as well (even if it's a step more in price). I also considered the micarta one, but i would like the blade to be polished.

does anyone know the characteristics of the TAMBOTI wood? is it hard? will it last well for a long time? about the IVORY, is it worth the difference in price? i like it but i'm not sure.

or sould i just get a classic plain sebbie?

i wish i could buy them all.....

Start with a plain one. You WILL end up getting the others, eventually anyway.

Large Classic. If you want a polished blade I seen a good supply of them at BladeArt.They also have some inlay,CalfSkin,Micarta etc.

MPE

If you want a "work" seb, get the large classic with Micarta inlay. Way grippier then a plain. They come up for sale used regularly and could pick one up at a discount if you're patient.

large classic, dual thumb lugs

welcome to the insanity!:)

I have the large classic with mammoth ivory. Short of a survival situation, when I probably would have something else on me anyway, it is for my personal enjoyment only. The ivory does flip out people with no clue, and I kind of like that! Just might have to pick up a small one for real work.

thank you everybody.
I'm looking forward to order a large classic (plain) with dual thumb lugs as soon as i pay off the credit card enought to not worry about it.... and i'll keep my small unique graphic for office day....

thank you guys again.

I use my Small Classic Snakewood Inlay as my EDC and it will see hard usage. The exotic woods used are hard and do not wear much at all. Overall, these wood inlay knives wear better than regulars because the wood is more scratch resistant than most metal, and darker wood does not show scratches. If there is a design you like, buy it and EDC it. It will hold up exceptionally well.
