So I was browsing looking for a good pair of Okinawa kamas and found this pic. Alot different than the usual kama and somewhat resembles a knuk and thought it would be cool to find some place that sells/makes them. any ideas? oh and what would it cost if its any way possible to have HI or any good places to forge a pair?

It ain't a khuk but it looks mean enough. The only thing wrong with that thing is it don't have a cho and it doesn't have any HI markings.:)

Edited: Wouldn't be much good in the kitchen either.

Many good Asian grocery stores carry cheap, less fancy versions of these, meant for just work. If anything, its the truer work version, than what generally gets marketed as Kama's.

Chile has been issuing these to its elite forces for some time. The corvo is a traditional knife in Chile.

BTW, these knives can be used with either edge up. One side gives you a skinner-like blade, the other is something of a billhook or pruning blade.

doesnt it look like the back of the spine of the kamas are also sharpened so that theres a flat blade for slicing? I think that it will be a mean tool agains some bushes and vines also.

Federico- I frequent chinatown sanfransico alot and havent came across anythign like this yet, just a bunch of cleavers. anyone here know if a shop online that has these that are actually made for real use?

So I just read that the kama style in the pic is called a natagama which is the upgraded stronger version.

Nismo, sorry cant help. Just know Ive seen em before in local Asian Grocery stores, but then thier stock changes frequently. You could try the asking at the EEWRS The blade shape is fairly common in Asia.

i noted that the khuk is a bit heavier than the kama, but that the kata moves translate pretty well to khuks. Some of the reverse grips I would not try, unnless i modified the butt of the khuk to be smaller.

Try looking in the Japanese owned grocery stores. I used to see em' in one of those around here.
