The knife would certainly hold up to the abuse of a baton but it was made to slice with a grind all the way to the spine (but not into the spine) on thin stock. It just isn't wedge shaped enough to split firewood.
These are very poor photos; I think my camera was confused by the very shiny blade and the dark handle. I will try to post a better picture of the blade when the light gets better here.

Ground from 1/8 inch ATS34
Flat grind to the spine
Mirror finish
Stabilized figured koa handle
Overall length: 8 1/2 inches
Blade: 4 1/2 inches
Leather scabbard

$170 which includes shipping to the US or Canada. My PayPal account is gldrewknives@yahoo.com I will also take a check with time to clear or a USPS money order.

OK, it is a brighter day today so I am adding a couple of new photos to show my grind lines. I have never had such a problem getting a good picture as I had with this one. The blade is very shiny and the handle very dark; too much contrast for an automatic camera.

Man, stare at that second picture long enough, the blade disappears! Nice polish, I'd hate to get blood or something on it.
