Made this one for a friend as a gift. The blade was forged from a fat leaf spring and its 11 3/4" long. Much larger than it appears in the picture. Curly maple handle and wrought iron fittings. 17 1/4" overall.

That's a really nice knife, ya old fart, but you scared me for a moment with that thread title! You had me worried briefly that something had happened to make you cancel your trip.

I bet you did that on purpose.....;)

Very nice Ray  The knife obviously does not have a difinitive plunge. Is it what looks to be in the pic the angled line starting at the choil and blended into the bevel grind ? Or is this just an illusion ? Whatever the case, as usual ;) , very nice work :) BTW, you always seem to come up with the nicest looking curly maple handles.

I can't wait to hear the answer to David's question. I've always wondered the same thing......"How'd he do that?" If I'm not mistaken Ray, all yours or at least most look like that right?
Matt

Just my observation, but isn't that a hamon from the quench?

Ray, I had no idea you were making me this knife...what a wonderfull gift!:D
Hey, You don't even have to ship it...it "could" go to Blade and then home w/ me!;)
