Second faulty chinese made kershaw iv had not lost the pocket clip screws on my injection clipping it to my pocket appears they just sheared out and shot off into the distance

Sending it back for a refund this time

Anyone else had issues with quality of the Chinese made versions from different brands?

Your title is misleading. Kershaw is a USA brand (unless you are talking about Chinese clones of Kershaw). If anything, you should blame KAI not Chinese. Let's not start another Chinese bashing thread in this happy Thanksgiving holiday.

OK.

I have had only two Kershaws: Brawler and Thermite. The torsion bar of the Brawler broke after two or three months. But KAI sent me two new torsion bars in less than one weeks after I requested.

I've owned a few over the years, and I've never had issues. A friend of mine has been carrying an oso sweet for 2 years and its still holding up nicely.

That's good customer service iv just had two in a row now returning for different easons one because the screws stripped first time I used the pocket clip and one because the frame lock had to much material ground out meaning it was very sloppy

Think iv just been unlucky and got two bad knives of the batches

Not all Kershaw knives are made in China. Their budget line is.

I believe the OP was asking whether people's experiences with the low-cost imported line of Kershaw knives were similar to his. It's not a China-bashing thread.

I have owned a few Kershaws and never had any problem with them. The only one I had that was made in China was the Cryo. I didn't care for the weight or ergonomics so I gave it to a nephew. All of my other Kershaws were US made - Skyline, Leek, Chive, Scallion, Blur. I still have the Chive (somewhere) and Leek.

never had a chinese kershaw that i liked.. ive tried various models, swapped out the teflon washers etc, never could warm up to one something was off with each one. that said my new launch 5 is kinda poor as well.

Yes was what I meant the budget end

Yes some Kershaws are made in China.
The ones I've handled seem to have decent fit, not so decent finish.

The Chinese manufacture is not an issue. They make them to Kershaw's specs. They could be made by martians but if Kershaw's specs weren't up to snuff it wouldn't be the Martians fault. That said, I've had no issue with my budget Kershaws. I hope they aren't letting things slip.

I have had a good many inexpensive Kershaws over the years. I always found them to be fine performers for my needs. These days, as my interest shifts and I get older, I only have a couple Leeks around. I'm not sure off-hand where they are made, but they are problem-free. I like them.

On the same topic, there is something similar for Spyderco too right? Golden, CO, Seki, Japan and Taichung, Taiwan I believe. Again, the Taiwanese ones--Slys bowie (I'm almost sure I spelled that wrong) is a very nice knife IMO. I have had one for a good while and it is as nice as any other Spyderco made elsewhere.

"Deals" usually come at the price of something.

Very rarely is something "cheap" and good.
Even then, good for how long?
In my experience, not long enough...

I don't think screws just randomly shear themselves off or strip out.

Me thinks there is more to this story than meets the eye.
