Ah ! I read here that one must use the spine rather than the blade edge to break the bottle's neck cleanly .

I use boxed wine with spigot ...so no problems !

Looks someone has been watching too many movies.

That's a great way to possibly injury yourself and/or someone else AND also waste a good bottle of champange or sparkling wine which you should never open by "popping the cork" (but by just slowly releasing it) in order to avoid losing any of the precious liquid in the bottle that took so much effort and often years to make.
