Another one. Sorry about the glare on both blades. This is kind of my version of the Moran Airman from the 60's but with a drop handle instead of the traditional "commando" style. This one is about 90% done, but it already has a fairly nasty edge. Needs final sanding of everything, tuning the lenght of the handle so the butt cap screws on just so, etc. Forged 6 inch blade of Don Hanson's W2, nickel silver fittings and African blackwood handle. I am going to TRY to make a rather thin wood liner for the sheath out of cedar from cigar boxes. Wish me luck.

Nice job man! that's a real beaut. The handle shape goes really well with that blade. Your other blade looks cool also. good luck with the sheath.

Thanks. For the hunter, I will probably just send it off to Kenny Rowe, Sandy Morrissey or Dave Cole or by one of the "production"pouch sheaths from Treestump. That one of supposed to be for my brother to take to the King Ranch for a Nilgai hunt this spring.

Both knives look good, you should post some details, length of blade and materials used etc. would be nice! What about sheath?

This one is W2 6 1/8 long x 1 1/4+- x .240 at the guard with kind of a stepped taper. It is gradual out to where the clip stats and then a little more pronounced on the tip. It currently resides in a Blackhawk nylon sheath, but hopefully, it won't stay there permanently:D The buttcap screws on which is kind of a PITA for a knife with an oval butt, but i didn't have my lathe yet when I was making the parts and I don't want to change it up now. Don't wanna mess with what passes for success in my shop:eek: Future ones will have a long lathe turned nut that threads onto the tang up about 1/2 inch into the handle. I plan to try to make the next one cloer to Mr. Moran's originals with the more radical clip with the "hump" in ther blade and the "commando" style handle. This one will possibly be going as a donation to a needy soldier to try out and abuse and give me some feedback for future ones. The next thing on the bench is a 12 inch W2 fighting bowie that will hopefully have a morticed coffin handle with 1018 fittings including a long buttcap and nut setup to balance it out. I may even try a little ivory inlay on the handle slabs and hide the pin underneath the inlays. I might even have thaqt one for SALE....lol. The other one that I have posted and the next two are gievaways promised to my brothers and the Earl of Guildford, who rents his farmhouse in Kent to my family each fall and is a custom knifer fanatic and an elk hunting redneck at heart...lol.
