Here is a shot of a Trout Lily, about to produce its flower. Some people view this as a sure sign of spring. Apparently you can eat the leaves after boiling, although in moderation as too much can induce vomiting.

The trilliums aren't out yet, but I'm going to keep an eye out on these guys. I'm thinking another 2 d and they will be carpetting the floor.

Finally starting to see some green around the feet of my dogs below. This is a pretty stark contrast from last week where the forest floor had little to no signs of life.

Sorry no knife shot today. Just too many people, kids and bikers out and about to whip out the RC-4 for some shots. Not that I was too worried about them seeing a knife. More like, they would think I was a looney trying to take a picture of a knife :) :)

Nice pics, I had not heard of a Trout lily.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels odd taking pics of knives when people are around.I can't tell you how many times I have tried to hide the knife quickly ,as people walk by,and pretend I'm taking a pic of some plant or fungi !!!!

Cool pics. Looks like youre progressing at about the same rate as the area I'm in.

The only one I feel strange taking knife pics around is my wife. She always seems to have a look of sheer regret on her face. Like she married a lunatic or something. :p

Otherwise, if someone asks, I'll tell 'em I'm selling on ebay and need good pics.

Thanks for the pictures, kgd. Looks the same as here.

BTW, one of our forum members has a friend that developed anaphalaxis after eating the corm (which is accepted as being edible). Luckily, his wife was a nurse and whipped him to the hospital.

Like the rest of you guys, I worry that people see me taking pictures of my knives. Rupestris, that ebay excuse is excellent.

Wow thats a really bad reaction. I wonder if he was exposed to it before, usually the rxns build towards to that level.

Yeah I agree - Ebay pictures is a good excuse!

Update on Spring in my parts. Took some pictures today, 3 d after the original thread. Not quite as advanced as I predicted, but getting there!

You can see a pile of trout lilies starting to come to life here:

I didn't intentionally pick this guy, the dog sort of clipped it off when it walked over it :(

The trilliums are quite there yet. Their greenery is carpetting the floor, but only a few selected flowers are beginning to show. I'm positive this weekend will be a wonderful site of fully opened flowers.

Oh yeah - In pic of the day there was that wonderful looking toad. I tried to find one to replicate that shot. My specimen was a little less photogenic. In the interest of maintaining privacy, he requested that I keep his identity hidden :o
