Got to use my Strider last night as I believe they were meant to be used.

I'm on a search and rescue team and last night we got a call for 2 kids stuck in a ravine. After a short search, we located them with voice contact. We had to bushwhack to the location they were in, and after we had them secured I started clearing a path for the trip out.

I had the first Strider I bought with me. An MFS. Pretty low on the Strider scale, but it worked great. I used it to dig out a bunch of brush and bushes by the roots and then cut the roots, as well as cut some small branches. I broke some lesser knives doing just that. Digging, cutting and prying. When I was done, there was a pretty nice path and my Strider was not damaged at all. Blew the dust off and back into it's sheath it went.

I used a pocket saw to cut the larger branches. Doesn't sound as exciting, but those pocket saws work great.

I was saving for a larger Strider knife to use in the field...but Mick had to post that picture of the new AR.

Thanks Strider guys for making a great product. If you have any new knives that need field testing...I'll be glad to volunteer. ;)

Way to go Mark.
If saving some kids isn’t tough use, Im not sure what is.
Thanks for putting our gear to good use.
