I ran into a Gerber rep. at a cookout last week. He told me that the Gator Jaw should be available sometime in July. He had a Prototype Gator Jaw with him, and a prototype Airframe. He let me fondle both of them.
The Gator Jaw seemed very nice, good grip, and no more pinching handles like the old Multi-tools. Each tool locked independently, and I especially liked the replacable triangular shaped carbide, wire cutting heads.
The AirFrame looked nice as well. Lightweight Cast Titanium handles, and sporting a very sharp CPM 154 plain edge blade. Very smooth opener. He said they were still working on the casting process of the titanium, as they had some problems with some small pitting in the handles from the casting process. I wasn't overly impressed with the linerlock on the Airframe. The liner lock engaged, "all the way over" and there was some
slight blade play when locked. Then I opened my big mouth and told him that if I were to pay the premium price for a knife such as this ... I would want zero blade play. He kinda frowned but agreed, and said they were working on it . Like the Gator Jaw, he expected them to be available in July.
I'm looking forward to seeing the production models, and hoping that the "kinks" get worked out of the Airframe.
