Not super impressed by Emerson Knives

I think brboru7 summed it up accurately... I have a couple and I like them, they work and they bring me pleasure. I also have a CS Recon 1 (clip point) that I keep in my pack and occasionally use--though it is really a back-up blade. All of these are outstanding knives--they are great at what they were made to do and are very easy to maintain/ sharpen wherever I may find myself. Beyond this, what else is there to say; should they fail at their tasks or suffer from faulty construction, well then that would be a different matter. But they have not. I'm a little surprised this thread went this long--so much acrimony for Emerson; what is it that people find so offensive? If one does not like them, one does not have to buy them. Vote for the other guy's products with your dollars...

Not entirely correct.
Hogue doesn't use washers, which is true, but they do use internal steel bolsters with integrated bearing surface that can corrode, not to mention the button lock which is also made of steel and Hogue recommends that you NOT take them apart for any reason but send them in for service or adjustment.

I had an Emerson mini commander. I loved the wave and design, however I hated the fit and finish. I will be buying an Emerson/ZT collaboration as ZT has always been great in the fit and finish department and i do like the Emerson design.
 
I own a CQC-8 and I honestly hate the thing. The blade shape and ergos are great (hence why I bought it), but literally everything else is absolutely subpar.

Main gripes:
Fit and finish (its almost embarrassing)
Either incredibly tight and can barely flick it open, or its so loose the blade had side to side play. No inbetween no matter how much lube or fiddling.
Came with a pretty poor edge out of the box

And thats enough for me to never support the company again, I refuse to sell it because I dont feel comfortable selling off my problems
