Not sure if I want to collect any more...

I've bought and resold a lot of knives over the past couple years. Still got a few favorites that have stuck around, but my collection isn't all that big. As of next week though, I'm not sure what else I want. I got a ZT 0550 yesterday, I've got a Bark River North Star coming next week, I've got a kukri that'll last me a few lifetimes...

It's weird. I never thought I'd reach this point, but I'm satisfied with my collection. When I started I swear I wanted everything, but as I've learned what I really enjoy, I guess I found that I can match my likes up with just a few knives.

I'm almost sad. What am I going to look forward to now...?

I'm at the beginning on my journey sensai, yet I will offer my humble wisdom... strive for what gives you satisfaction and settle for nothing :)

I hit that hump a long time ago. Start using them and you'll find a whole new appreciation.

I feel ya man I got one of the knives I never dr eamed I would own. I don't think I will ever ever ever ever own the other two. A custom Emerson and a Custom Hinderer. I am at an endroads myself I feel half broken hearted and sad. I have met so many great people along the journey. I just do not like standard production knives they do nothing for me at all mid-techs and customs are all I really like. Now that I don't have a job its all but over.

You were probably never a Collector. :)

Nothing wrong with that; there's an entire category of knife enthusiasts who enjoy the social interaction and thrill of swapping / trading / buying-selling.

That's right. Maybe you're a User at heart.

Find a very special hard to get knife (a grail) and hunt it down. Or maybe you already have? I would say that would be a very special and fulfilling challenge to keep you occupied.

Much wisdom here. There is a difference between collectors and traders. And plain ole users.

I use the heck out of my knives... and I trade.
I'm about at this point as well though.
I'm pretty happy with what I have, except maybe one or two.
And the only two I REALLY want are a Strider SNG(had to let mine go) and a Boker Anso 67.
Sooo.. yeah lol.
But knives will always be my favorite hobby and I'll always love them.

Anytime I collected something it always ended feeling hollow. Buying something to just look at or occasionally fondle never felt right to me. But to each their own!

Yep. Your interest will come in waves. No need to push anything. Just use what you've got and enjoy them. Rather than just collecting, improve your knife handling skills for the present. Eventually you'll probably see something that will revive your interests all over again.

I agree about using but seeing as I love big blades and machetes that's easy enough for me to say, expand your horizons maybe?

Learn to sharpen. Start modifying. Start making.

Or get a new hobby. Hopefully one you can use your knives with. If not you will still probably return one day.

I tend to wander off from my knife hobby in the summer. The weather's nice so I'd rather be out on the motorcycle, convertible, fishing lake, or hiking trail. Knife collecting suits me just fine for an indoors winter hobby.

Get outside and enjoy life. You can even bring a few of your knife friends with you on your journey.

I know what you mean. I've more or less has lost interest in buying anything new. I look at new stuff and find that I don't like it any better then anything don't already have. Many the knives that caught my interest enough to purchase over the years, I find that I don't carry them and I'm think about doing a mass cleansing of the collection. I guess my interest has refined and I don't feel I need anything else.

I did just purchase a custom fillet knife because the only thing I had was a old Ka-bar with way too much flex. I'm also waiting to hear if my pre-order for the ZT 0777 will ever get filled, but I've been waiting for two years on that one and the excitement has waned.

I more or less did the same thing with guns before I lost interest in them and moved on to knives. After getting a few different guns I like and wanted to use I stopped spending time reading up on all the different models. For a brief period I did got into watches and after getting a couple I really liked I stopped collecting them also. I've got a few of those I need to sell as well.

I guess that might be what I'm as well, I just collected until I found the few that I really like to use.

There is a ZT 0777 for sale on the exchange for a flat $1000. A new, scarce Kershaw for $1000!!! Maybe that's enough to reignite your interest.:)

I'm also pretty well "fully knived" at the moment. I have more than I'll ever need for the rest of my life, and nothing is really calling to me.

Which is actually good, because now I can enjoy carrying and using what I have instead of always searching for that next "must have" purchase.
