Murray White has elsewhere provided an excellent in-depth show review. This thread features knife portraits I made as official show photographer - now my 4th year in that role. I've learned a lot and been able to advance my craft because the PKA took a chance on me when Terrill Hoffman, friend and superb knife photographer who'd served them well for years decided to move on (His work is now mostly featured in the tactical knife publications) and suggested me to the PKA board. I thank Terrill, the PKA and most of all the makers and others who attend that show every year and pay me to shoot their knives! While it's not been easy winning them over - Terrill was so well-liked; he's a great guy - my showing up repeatedly every year is working to cement some friendships. The knives aren't always of the fare we frequently see in this forum but many of the knives ARE. All of the knives you'll see here are notable and some are really excellent. I had a blast this year. Last year was kind of a bust because in the middle of the weekend my R hand got mangled by a pit bull. This year was fun. I enjoyed talking in particular with Murray White - an aficionado of many things - smart, and has a great eye. Consider attending the PKA, third weekend in August every year. If I were you I'd come to the show for one (of 3) days then head up to the mountains 60-70 miles West of Denver for some high country fun.

great photos! I was at this show too and actually remember picking up the tomahawk :)

Click on this one (twice to open all the way). The sword was 52 in. OAL.! I had to shoot it in 4 installments and stitch 'em together. Whew! For a two handed sword it had good weight and balance. The blade is nicely tapered.

The collaboration piece below is interesting because custom knife icon Rudy Ruana, grandfather to Bud & David, actually forged the blade a long time ago. Apparently he would sometimes make a knife but fashion extra blades for his grandsons so they might share making a second version of the knife. Here's one that finally recently got made! Pretty cool. Naturally the Ruana boys' style is highly reminiscent of of Rudy's.

Nice pictures.

Never heard of Tim Scholl, he seems to make nice stuff! Beautiful hawk.

Kind regards,

Jos

Great job with the pics, Buddy - as expected. And some very nice knives. Love the Kopp dagger.

Whomever coined the phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words" was a very smart person indeed.
These pictures are amazing, Buddy, you've brought the knife show to the comfort of your home.

The knives are nice, and the pics are awesome!
Corrected: ^^^ What he said!

SO glad this show has turned out well for you. I know last year had you wincing.

Looking forward to the rest as you finish them.

Wow - very nice work Buddy. Your shots show a lot of the depth and dimension that is sometimes lacking in other knife photos. I particularly like the shot of that Jenkins Bird & Trout. Thanks for sharing these.

Thanks for sharing these awesome knives Buddy.
The quality, clarity and realism of your images are beyond words.

Unbelievable that those two knives are from the same maker... One that represents a lot of things I don't like in a knife, and the other that represents a lot of things I do like in a knife.

Nice pics, keep 'em coming!

kind regards,

Jos
