I originally made this one up for a local electrician, but he had to go out of state for work and I haven't heard from him for some time. I decided to put it up here for a discounted price and see if someone is taken by it. If you like to always surprise your buddies with something different, this one should definitely fit the bill.
This is my take on a compact wireman's knife (or electrician's knife). Also known as a cable jacket knife. The hooked main edge is useful in stripping jackets on large cable, while the notches can be used for smaller cable and wire. I took special care with the edge geometry around the notches and plunge to make sure it had the maximum utility possible for this task, while minimizing the chance of a chipped or broken corner.
Even though this is a specialty knife, it would be absolutely terrific for EDC, in a pocket sheath, belt sheath, or even as a necker. The notches are useful for much more than just stripping wire, and the thin hollow ground hawksbill is a wicked slicer. This thing would wreak havoc in a shipping department. The entire length of the edge is sharpened, and the edges near the notches gently rounded, so they should not impede the use of the knife.
This thing is incredibly light at 2.7oz, I would say it's probably about the biggest bang you can get in a small package. It will absolutely disappear if EDC'ed. The 3 finger handle is comfortable, stable, and easy to work with.
6.25" OAL, 2.625" Edge
CTS-XHP @ 60, .159" thick
Hollow ground to thin slicing edge, stropped to shaving sharp
Sharpened stripping notches
416SS Guard and lanyard tube which also acts as handle pin
K&G Stabilized Old Growth Redwood Burl, Octagonal handle profile
2.7oz
SOLD. Sheath available on request for minimal charge. I prefer paypal but accept mo/check.
