When I first got this, I was disappointed, but the serrated edge is cool and the goofy handle has grown on me.

You've found that you like it, therefore it IS special. That's the best reason to buy and carry a knife, don't you think? :)

The pic brought a smile to my face. That is a unique handle on that puppy.

I have a question, what is the allure of these type of knives..i see a lot of people spending a lot of money...they seem like "old guy" knives...and i truely dont mean to offend...what's the deal..why not a spyderco or kershaw?

The same reasons you prefer a Spyderco or a Kershaw. People like different things.

As stated, pretty much different strokes for different folks. The "lot of money" ones that you see are probably customs &, for the most part, they're a bargain in comparison to the price of a custom "modern" folder.

That aside, the allure of slip-joints (At least to me) is the different handle material & workmanship that goes into making a nice one. Also, there's something to having "an old guy" knife.

Very well said:thumbup: That doesn't mean I don't like my modern folders, but damn there are some nice slipjoints out there, even in my collection:D

I bought this 4 years ago off ebay. It was in a lot of knives that I purchased for a single knife in the lot. I think I paid $20 for 4 knives. The one I wanted was worth that to me. I don't even know the details of this knife. Another member posted some pictures of different Imperial tang stamps and the years they used each stamp. I figure I can trust that info, but it still doesn't give me any specifics. Irrespective of that, it really doesn't matter. I collect things that are pleasing to my eye or intellect and the value is of, well, no value to me. If that makes any sense?

I guess I have always been drawn to old school stuff. Cars, knives, aircraft, guns etc. It reminds me of what I imagine were simpler times.

Just because its a slip joint doesnt mean it cant be a modern knife too. Put one together with titanium liners, bolsters, and backsprings, polished G-10 scales, and S110V blades.

There are plenty of modern looking slipjoints, just look at the Spyderco UKPK and the Slipits.

Well in my case anyways, I'm an old guy. :D I don't carry slipjoints exclusively but I always have at least one in my pocket.

Bein an old guy ain't so bad. iI's better then the alternative. I hope you make it to old guy status one day.

The allure is simple. These types of small pockets knives will do 98% of everything you need a "pocket knife" to do. Plus there small, and come in tons of different styles. Not everyone is a Couch Ninja and needs a Spyderco Military. No offence intended. Maybe the "old guys" know something. At least that's what I keep telling my kids. :D
