November BOTM

OPINION (but only since you asked):
Nice enough knife, I suppose. While not THE "last thing/knife I need" ... it be mighty daRn close.
My cooking days ended a couple years ago. :(

Come to that, I never had, used, or believed in kitchen specific knives, when I was doing my own cooking. My "paring knife" (3.5 inch carbon steel Old Hickory) was a great all around small fixed blade. (I did make a cereal box cardboard and duct tape belt sheath for it.)
Cleaned no mortal knows how many fish, snapper turtle, tree rats, wabbit, ... and peeled even more taters and turnips, removed maybe a half ton or two of radish leaves, sliced/diced at least a truck load of various onions, sliced/cubed meats ... and other "kitchen duty" tasks, peeled bark, whittled/carved tent stakes ...

I was at the tire store getting tires on my truck when this came out.
So I was looking at some little pic on my phone, trying to figure out if it was a flat grind or not.
At home looking with a bigger screen, I'm pretty certain it is a flat grind.
I love flat grind knives.
I guess I sorta missed out on the May 2019 knife as I believe that was flat grind also.
My Buck Chef knife has the hollow as usual....... and it's not really all that impressive as a slicer/chopper as my other flat grind kitchen knives are.
Hollow grinds are great for meat, but you typically don't use a chef style knife for meat.
So when the May knife came out, I quickly dismissed it.....

Buck knows far more about knives than me.
HOWEVER; The marketing department needs to actually communicate with the folks in product development. COME ON!
Why don't they list things like grind on a specialty knife? Especially if it is different than they usually do?
Really?
Some dumb dumb customer needs to point this out?:confused::confused::confused::confused:

I look forward to getting a Buck kitchen knife with a grind that is fitting for food prep.
Thanks.:)
Just my opinion....... don't tie your undies up:rolleyes:

I skipped this one since I'm all set on kitchen knives and I figured my wife wouldn't want it since she has the BotM Chef's knife from last year. I was wrong. She took one look and I saw her eyes light up, lol. If anyone is unhappy with theirs, you know where to find me. :P

Ok, thanks. The sabatier that came with the kitchen set has a 5/8" of hollow grind at the edge the rest of the blade is a flat grind. This works great on cutting thick veggies and better than my other full flat grind sabatier. This also allows the knife to take a nice edge during sharpening. I like that feature. I don't use a sabatier for carving meat or cutting up chicken. DM

Anyone with an extra they don't want, I'm interested. I was way too busy last week to pay attention!

I would be just be happy with a Buck Santoku......
I hope they add it to the lineup

Every couple of weeks or so my wife mentions that I really should have snagged the BotM Santoku for her, lol. I'm never going to live that down.
