November Buck of the Month

Yeah this one is more in the collector type of offering being a more rare model with the mirror polished blade, polished burlap micarta and file work making it a nice display knife where 420hc blade makes since.

I’m sure it will sell out, and it is a nice looking knife. As much as I love the BOM program and look forward to each release. None have been quite right for me.

I guess I’m hard to please, then again I’m perfectly content with a plain old 110.

I hate to be negative. But the blade shape is a real turn off for me. It has no belly. It looks like it’s been sharpened badly for 10 years. At least it’s not a recurve.
it's a great slicer and daily task user though. looks wise I like lt myself but looks aside......I use a Remington 532 version a lot and it works very well. it's a great user design for normal daily cutting.

Yes, it is pricey when you remember that in June of last year Smoky Mountain had a Buck 532 with G10 scales for $100. I'm not sure how we got from $100 to $180 with a scale change. That said, it is a good price point strategy considering every BOM has been a sell out. I'm sure this one will be no exception. You could conclude that Buck has undervalued its products in the past when they sell for more on eBay than retail. I'm sure Buck would rather have that money in their own pocket. I'll have to compare the G10 version to this new one when it arrives.

On another note, I wish Buck would give up on those pine boxes, they are always way over sized for what they contain and become a storage headache. I do like wood boxes but make the size more form fitting. /Roger

I feel the price heartburn often with new knives. However, Buck sales out of the factory are at their set MSRP (unless it's on sale). If this was a catalog item with a price of $180, their dealers would be paying 50% of that price. So if SMKW had ordered this they would be paying $90 each and then decide on what works as a markup for them. 10% would put the price right at the $100 point Roger was talking about. I'm sure Buck will not under-cut their dealers by contract. Just some food for thought.

everyone made a good point on the high price point. what drove me in is how rare we see current production buck labeled 532s anymore. this model isnt extinct in current production, but close to it. any version 532 I would have bit down on. the burlap wasnt a driver at all for me.

I'd have preferred s35vn or s30v or cpm 154 ya name it, but just like 532s and that got me to bite down. the limited part i have little to no interest in. limited editions annoy me when a great combo of materials pops up and I cant grab one due to cost or short window to grab and limited hobby funds.

it's good for buck I assume or they wouldnt do it and also good for many collectors I assume or they wouldnt do it, but I'm not a collector in that regard. just like good quality buck models.

I kinda figured that would be the driving force behind yours and probably alot of the others who jump on it and for that nobody can blame you. There's really no other reason to spend that much, there's no real wow factor on her. It's a seldom seen model but with basic materials. Nice package none the less. This is a collector piece for sure.

Another thing to consider is that you can get a 501 with the same scales and 154CM for $95 right now.

To me, I like the 532 a lot more than the 501. I kept trying to convince myself to buy a 501, but couldn't. Soon as I held a 532, I bought it. That Sawby design shows through the Buck drapes :)

I like both models. They are the perfect size for everyday carry.

I had 2-532 Master series with BG-42, but sold them both due to financial concerns at the time. Really good knives!

But, they are not worth twice as much for less knife.
