  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Novice leatherworker just focusing on "functional"

I am a beginner leather worker as well, just last week I bought a (I think it was 2 shoulder section?) veg tan, 8-9 wt piece for some knife sheaths. I have worked some small, far thinner pieces for a pocket sheath in the past with a speedy stitcher, but that is it.
First sheath finished yesterday WAS NOT PRETTY! but it's "a thing that holds a thing". Started a second, already made more, different mistakes on this one.

I bought a beginner kit, some glue, and some copper rivets, next up I want a stitching pony, and learning the saddle stitch. It's probably the beginner in me but I can't Imagin not using rivets, I like the look and the ease of use.

Thanks for sharing pics of your work, as a beginner I like to see work of people a few steps ahead of me as much as of the pros.
