In the interest of getting these wonderful tools into the hands of as many people as possible, we're now carrying fully modern production blades and snaths by Seymour Midwest. While we prefer fully restored vintage examples and will continue to provide them, we only have so much time available to work on them around other projects and operations. As the video below demonstrates, these scythes are fully capable of mowing with ease!

Wouldn't it have been easier to just move the electric fence and let the horses flash graze it?
Plus it would have given that over grazed eroded horse pen a little relief.

Nope. There's actually a lot of old debris back there since the property here has had a structure on it since the 1930's and it's been "remodeled" a lot over the years and it would take more effort to move the fencing than it does to just mow the space. It's not huge, and is closer to the road than I'd be comfortable allowing the horses with only temporary fencing. Also, the section of pasture you see in the background happens to be right where a lot of runoff goes through. We have heavy clay soil that makes it so that area never really grows up other than with marsh pepper smartweed later in the season. It's a swamp in wet weather right in that spot and there's not much to be done about it. Thanks for the concern, but I've got it all pretty well figured out and this is what works best for our location and circumstances. ;)
