Now Chopping - Anyone else getting more rain then normal :-p ? (Busse Content Added)

I live in the central part of La and we are hurting for rain, and are in the Exceptional Drought catagorey as we are under the same high pressure system that is affecting TX. We got a little from TS Lee but we are so far behind it would take several tropical system's to get us back to normal. They say La Nina is reforming and the drought will continue to get worse into 2012. No relief in sight!

Flooded highways and extreme droughts...what's next?

Well I am making the best of the rain. Trees just falling down from the soil being so soft.

I got out my old beater...my first project Busse. I can't believe it got dusty and I put it away dull

About five minutes with my 1SM and a leather belt and I think its good enough for a chopping session again :)

Now to go have some fun in this rainy weather :)

Finally got a few pics of what these bad boys can do with a crazy sharp convex edge. This was my first Busse. I pushed the limits in every way with this one. I found out what was too thin to chop 2x4's and so on. The end result I have a knife that I am very attached to with an insane edge that holds up...right on the edge :)

AND I beat it and pass it around to friends to do the same with no worries ;-)

This is silver maple that came down during Irene...the FBMLE ATE IT UP.
The wood feels polished better then I can do with tons of wood working and buffing.

This was only about a minute.

After passing it around for beating I checked the edge on a piece of paper I found...still sharp and shaves too. Gotta love that.

So, had a lot of fun and got a lot of work done. She's not pretty and I made all of my mistakes on this FBMLE and learned the limits...but it doesn't matter.
Thanks ole' buddy FBMLE

Wow Kevin, what a beaut. That thing REALLY makes me want a FBM. Green blade and tan Micarta would be awesome. Anyway, we got rain last night and early this morning which is VERY uncharacteristic of Orange County this time of year. In fact, August/September are usually our driest months. Weird weather to say the least.
