Now hear me out here...coca cola.

It seems to me that there must be some power-bar type thing that would give you sugar and caffeine, and be a little more stable.

Just a thought.

My first thought too. If you are looking for a *boost*, I'd look for something easier to carry then 1 or 2 liter of Coke. I admit ignorance on powerbars and energy drinks.

Wrap it in tin foil completely, if it freezes, no problem, it will melt when your vehicle gets warm and you have a noce cold soft drink that will not explode on you.

As a diabetic, I like to carry something that will raise my blood glucose level quickly -- I've had a few incidents where I was fading. One interesting suggestion I got was the little tubes of cake decorating frosting you can get in the baking aisle of the supermarket. Even if a diabetic has fainted, you can push the tip of the tube into his mouth and squeeze the sugar in. It will dissolve even if he's unconscious. That means it should be a very quick energy boost for anyone. Honey would probably be even better.

Coke as stomach ache relief? The original formula was supposed to contain coca, which is where the name came from, and which at the time was considered medicinal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coca_Cola#Coca_-_Cocaine

I routinely put 2 litre Coke bottles in the freezer to cool them down quickly, and then forget about them. I've never had any rupture, but that's not to say they wouldn't.

If you think it might freeze moderately, store it upside down, so the neck is not plugged with frozen Coke.

(Confessions of a Coke (a Cola) addict )

I pulled a bonehead Southern California move last year when I took a case of diet coke to Montana for elk season. One night it hit ten below. About four of the cans burst but the only good thing is that the extreme cold prevented any coke from flowing out of the cardboard factory case. Easy to clean up. Most of the other cans bulged out on the tops and bottoms but did not explode. When thawed they were a little flat but still drinkable. Live and learn.

Brought no cola this year and, of course, it hasn't dropped lower than about twenty above zero where I'm presently hunting.
