Now I just wanna' hack somethin' up!

I guess I was to harsh on the 7 and 13 just now so heres my revised version...The 13 might be good for an EDC blade but EDCing blades is illegal here so it doesent get as much use as I'd like it to and the 7 was designed for combat not as a chopper so I guess I shouldnt be to hard on it since chopping wasnt its intended function. Judgeing by the amount of posts you've got I'm guessing your pretty new so welcome to the BK&T aswell :).

please define "combat" :)

the 7 and of course the 9 and 10 were designed to satisfy criteria to be accepted as military knives, especially that stupid thumb ramp we love or hate, yah?

beyond that, well, those knives are used for "many day to day tasks" while working the soldier job. fighting is probably not one of them. prying open crates, chopping stuff up, cutting cord and even wire, making a meal, popping a door... pretty typical knife stuff.

the BK7 chops very well, for its size and all. imho.

knife fights... not exactly common stuff in the military, yah?

He he he I guess we know where you stand on thumb ramps.

I started carrying this Spyderco Endura with a healthy thumb ramp and I found that I really like the feel of it. It's one of the reasons I finally chose the 7 over 2 for my most recent purchase.

Edit out a nefarious comment... Define Combat? Combat is what soldiers do. The BK7 is like the BK9, its a fighter. What it does after the fact, is up to the current owner El Hefe.
Its Memorial Day weekend...and I am a vet. I see nothing wrong with stating the facts. I LOVE MY BK7, because its an ass KICKER!
I used to think some of the same things about the BK7, but in my older wiser years...I have come to think of the BK7 as the benchmark for other knives.
It does it all, it can CHOP, slice, Bushcraft, do food prep, and ...I sure wouldn't want to be the OTHER guy, when a GI pulls one of these and looks at me like I just fired off an IED at his platoon....basically. Its a work horse.
Bladite..I love you buddy (well, maybe I just like you a lot) and to the whole group of you...Happy Memorial day....God Bless the USA, Ethan Becker, and KABAR...who by the way, deserves our honorable mention for making ASS KICKERS for a long time that ended up in the hands of our troops...
I feel that there is no better place for BECKER designs than in the hands of KABAR. This message is approved by the slightly buzzed INFANTRY of the 4th ID.
I did take off the thumb ramp on mine...don't think I didn't get it, I just have a way of doing things, and like my knife the way I like my knife...period.

to the OP, you made a GREAT choice. Man, I love my BK7. AWESOME knife!!!!!!!!!!!
