Absolutely beautiful.

It's a shame about the blade play though, I had the same problem on my Damascus Mini-Trapper. It seemed like the blade stock was a bit too thin compared to the springs. It was so drastic that I didn't peen it but instead inserted a thin piece of U-shaped sheet metal between the blade and scales. Amateur fix, but it helped and works fine so far :D
I would have sent it back if I didn't live overseas.
 
I've always wondered about edge retention on Damascus (1080 & 15n20) being that it's a softer rockwell.
 
I have emailed Case about the problem. I'll let you know what they say. When I went to cut something today and blade shifted it was like a punch in the stomach!
 
Well she's off to Case tomorrow. When I went to open an envelope and blade shifted I thougth oh no this isn't something I can accept for $150 so I'm mailing it in for repair tomorrow. :( I sure hope they can fix it "RIGHT".

It really stinks to get a BNIB knife and have an immediate problem that requires sending it in. I wanted that knife so bad but now I'm disappointed terribly.

That IS annoying.

I sometimes wonder that the more costly CASE models seem to have more significant faults than the cheaper ones?
 
A friend and I were talking about that same thing William. All our cheaper case knives are really nice condition without problems ect then I buy a $150 one and the blade wobbles horrible. :eek: Makes ya shake your head for sure.

Very knice lookin' knife! I'm really digging the Back Pocket pattern and I like the braided leather lanyard Case throws in... :thumbup::cool: Sorry to hear about the blade-wobble; hopefully the folks down at the Case shop will make it right!

I was watching that auction, too. Sorry to hear about the problems with it. Same seller has another for sale but I'm steering clear.
 
A beautiful knife Ash!! The Thomas Damascus is great stuff. I'm sorry to hear of the issues though. I hope Case fixes it to your satisfaction.
 
Great, case does have really good customer service. Did they fix it or replace it. Just curious what the problem was
 
I'm going to look at my photos and blade later to see if its the same or not due to damascus design. It had major blade play as in it felt like it was going to fall out.
