Now I know...

d.r.h. It's actually the tip of my blade that is off center when in the frame.

Then I stand corrected. My initial supposition was that you were referring to it not being centered on the lock bar side toward the tang. From your pic, it looks like the blade is off center towards the solid scale. I guess with anything manufactured, there are the occasional problems. Does it actually rub against the non-lock bar scale? Regardless, contacting CRK was the correct move.

I removed the blade again and this time reset the blade bushing and washers and now the blade is much more centered. I wonder if the bushing just wasn't in quite right. Now I feel much better about the 'fit' as I already felt about the finish. It's a beautiful knife with the snakewood inserts. Now if I can just force myself to EDC such a beauty.

Very possible. Or, perhaps, the washers were upside down. I have heard that the smooth side of the washers should contact the blade tang, not the scale (though, it would seem to me that installing them upside down would affect opening smoothness more than blade centering). The notion that a CRK blade is not centered is just so hard to imagine. I mean, with CRK tolerances and the design of the Sebenza, there is not a whole lot which would/should cause that. Glad it's looking better!

I wasn't aware that the wahers had two distinct sides...I guess I'll have to check that out the next time I take it apart.

I have a brand new Sebenza (as of last Friday) and mine is not centered either.

Probably you did it right!!
The large washer wont fit the lockbar side. You'll touch the washer with the lockbar.

But-uhm..... Welcome to the CRK-addiction! Thought one would do, but I have my fifth on the way..;-)

NvG79 ....

When I mentioned this, I was not referring to placing the washers on opposite sides of the blade (that's obviously a no-go). I had heard that the washers have two distinct textures. One side is more smooth/polished than the other. I had also heard, that when reassembling the knife, the washers should be oriented the same way they came off the knife ... with the smooth side of the washer against the blade tang. Now, when I disassembled one of my Sebenzas ... sure enough, one side of the washers was more smooth/polished than the other. Having said this .... it could very well be that one side of the washer "is" smoother because it is being polished by the blade tang during opening and closing, whereas the other side remains more "rough" because of the texture of the scales against which it rests.

Would recommend that gdw go ahead and disassemble and reassemble the new Sebenza to see if that corrects the problem ..... or just give CRK a call.

Ow wow..... Just learnt something important....!

Need to check this also then O_o

I suspect that I will come to the same realization "now I know". I have one.....but I can't have it till the end of august, I found it at a gun show with box and all paper work for 350 and my parents offered to pay half for my birthday.....but I can't get it till then, so now it's just a waiting game till I get it.

I can't wait to get it, I got to handle it a couple times, but not enough to really appreciate it.

Oh, its a plain large sebenza 21 made in February of 2012....I think, my date may be wrong

Here is mine. Maybe it's paranoia after spending $450.

Look at the bottom of your pic and you will see the inside of the your non lock bar side. So your orientation is off ever so slightly off. Try taking the pic where you can't see the inside of either and you maybe spot on.

It is a beautiful knife and paranoia will destroy you.

I just did it too...and it does SEEM to be a little more centered, but maybe my mind just wants it to be. Anyway, thanks for the help...I'm not going to do anything further as this knife is otherwise perfect.

Look at your centering ad the end of the handle - if you look at the whole blade/handle, the lockbar coming across can create an illusion that it's off to the small washer side. Just sayin....

I think the photos posted here show that the tip of the blade is slightly off centered. I would try disassembling and reassembling the knife to see if the tip gets more centered, or I would send it back for a refund if it is unused. You could also send it in to CRK. Spending this kind of money, I would expect nothing less than perfectly centered. Having a new Sebenza looking the way the knives posted here look would drive me totally bonkers.

Great advice. The trick is in the screws to slabs orientation 99.9% of the time.

Check these out guys maybe one will offer you an easy solution! ;)

Tried taking it apart 3 times. Still un-centered. Not my imagination. I have other, less expensive knives that are dead center. I'm not knocking CRK, just think I got one a little off. CRK recommended I send it back to WC. I called WC and the guy there pulled one that he said was perfect and will hold it for me and compare the two when they come in. I love that I can take it apart and assemble extremely easy without loc-tite and no fudging with the pivot. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the "new" one.

Congrats on your fist Sebenza mathman:thumbup:

You now own the best folder made, IMO.
