Now I want a junglas

I have a Rowen rc3,rc4 and a izula. Now I want a junglas I am hesitant though because I already have a knife in that size class. I have a cold steel spear point machete with a 12 inch blade. Would my purchase of the junglas be redundant or justified. Has anyone ever done a work off between the two. What would be the advantage besides the edge retention of the 1096 over the 1055?

I've really yet to find anyone here (including me) that needs a Junglas other than the guys it was named after...The Junglas. And to be real honest all they really need is a cheap machete. Basically what I'm saying is you're not really going to pick up any advantage by buying our Junglas than you would already have with a similar blade.

I respect you for it, but I think it's pretty hilarious the way you always tell people not to buy your products.

I wonder if the Junglas had an edge over a machete in the destruction of those Hogs in that now infamous thread.

"Now" you want one?

I've wanted one from the moment Jeff teased us with the first pic!

But I don't buy knives anymore... I win them. ;)

I'll get a Junglas soon enough. ;) ;)

as much as i don't like killing things (i'm no hippie... i just don't like to kill), that thread made me want a junglas so bad. i still have a few others to get before that that will be a little more practical, but that knife is so awesome. oh, i also saw a dude chop a tree in half on youtube with one. that helps too. :)

Heavy vs light. I got CS machetes, but my BK9 and my Patrol machete out weigh them by twice as much. I can cut green veg with my CS just fine, and they do OK with hardwood, but my BPM chops hardwood and green veg with ease.

I want a Junglas. Why do want one, I already have a BK9 and a BPM? Because its a big hunk of sharp steel that looks sexy and will work. Knives are addictive, and we are all looking for the next "the one". Junglas just happens to be mine. A Fiddleback Terrasaur is another. Go figure.

Me too, guess it's jusT one of the many reasons myself and many other keep buying them. It refreshing to get down to earth honest answers about a product from the makers/sellers. Lest see 18 HI chitlange, 10.5 KH sirupate, 10 valiant Golok potong, fiskars hatchet, 15 tramotina bolo, CS 13 khukri machete, 12 spear point, and heavy machete. Nope your right I don't need it but darn those handles fit my hand perfectly it it just looks like a cool walking dead slayer. Guess I will be ordering tomorrow.

Jeff uses reverse psychology to sell ESEE knives. :D I'm betting you now want a Junglas more than ever.

New to the ESEE section, I'd be interested to see an ESEE version of the RD7, (thick, 8" blade for chopping). It's kind of a clunker but would be a sweetie with proper steel, fit and finish. Nice knives, I'm up to 4 ESEE's now, RC3, RC4, SERE 5 and RC6. I call my RC4 "the Pumpkin Stabber" for its orange handle / green blade. It's my EDC during the cooler months when I wear a jacket with pockets. Just thought I'd throw in a comment of general appreciation to compliment your public show of humility. BTW; I think you're right, there's not a single knife of yours that I have found that I actually "need."

I don't need one, have that category covered many times over. . . but of all ESEE products it is the one I would buy first.

Thanks for the link. I saw it cool pics, going to sleep to wait for morning so I can order.

From the moment I saw the pics of the Junglas, I knew I had to own one. To be honest, unless I was camping or at a hunting camp, I figured I probably wouldn't be using it much.

But, several months ago, I bought a home in Kentucky. Turns out, I used my Junglas more than any other tool to take care of trees and deadfall around the property that needed removed. There may have been other tools that would have worked....but it was more fun with the Junglas..:D

Just being honest when I say the Junglas is probably the most useless knife in our line for everyday use. There's not much it will do that a common machete won't do. Just like the old RTAK, it was designed more for use in jungle environments where you might need a little more heft than a standard machete (not sure why but some of the drug guys love 'em for chopping marijuana or hacking up drug lab components before they wire and blow them). Don't get me wrong, it works fine and a lot of folks use them stateside for their own jungles, but what rides in my truck with me every day is a Lite Machete. I've yet to find anything I can't conquer with a simple machete. All I'm saying is if your funds are limited and you need a big knife then pursue the machete route first. Now, if you got money to spend and just like the Junglas, by all means we want to sell you one ;)

I think you need a lite machete but want a Junglas ,so to me I think you owe it to yourself to own both ;)

I questioned myself when I bought one-but after my first campout with it,it was instant "glad I bought it". Did I have to have it ? Probably not-but now I have it and happy. ;)

Wait a minute...I started with the Junglas. Have I gone about this all wrong...? Nope I love my Junglas and even use it more than my 5. Its probably all in my head but to me if I had to grab one of my knives running out the door it would be my Junglas. Great at chopping and batoning wood and pretty much anything else I can think to do with it....I might try and sneak my Izula along just for the finer jobs.
