In the compression lock.:)
The Superhawk and ATR have convinced me of the merits of this lock, which has alot of the qualities I like from an AXIS lock, while having the "neatness" of a liner or frame lock.
I'd LOVE to see a Chinook 3 style blade(same thickness) in the Superhawk handle; just make the liner about 0.010" thicker.
Please Sal, how about a Chinook 4 with the compression lock, and maybe some carbon fiber? Or G-10, I love that stuff too.

Yep, I completely agree with you. The comp lock is simply the best. It needs to be used more often.

The only compression lock I have is on the Salsa- It's a brilliant lock.

So, we all love the lock.
Anyone else want to see it on a Chinook style blade?

I am not a collector - yet somehow I have ended up with 5 ATR's and three Lil'Temps. The most interesting of these is a user Lil'Temp - this has two pretty good dings on top of the blade - not scratches - dings! And ya know what - this is the only compression lock I've ever run into that is a little sticky un-locking when going from open to closed. Somehow I invision a scene that goes something like this :" Hey - got me a new absolutely unbreakable spydie here - I'm going to spine wack it with a three foot pipe taped to it onto this I-beam edge . Yup - did it once - didn't break so did it again - huh- it's a little sticky on the un-lock - wonder why?" Time to toss it onto shopping while drunk and see who wants to bid on it? Think about it - just how hard do you have to slam a chunk of S-30 into something to put two 1/8" thick dents in the top of the blade? And the thing still works!
This is one really tough lock.

The Military is pretty good right now. It would be excellent with the compression lock.

The next Millie generation we'll see will be featuring the new "stop lock" if all works out like intended.

A thread about the (till now unused) lock mechanism can be found here.

I was wondering when they would come out with a new manix and how exactly they could possibly beat the old one but a comp (or Stop) lock would be a great addition and also slim down a chunky knife.

Millie with a Comp lock would fly off the shelves.........IMO! I have stayed away from the Millie soley because of the current lock. In a stab and twisting motion, my hand can close the lock. It is still a wonderful folder, just cannot get past it though. Take care all and God Bless!

Hey guys,

Quick question. While it seems like everybody here thoroughly enjoys the compression lock, I've seen some videos that give it mixed reviews as far as blade play is concerned. Have any of you guys experienced anything like that? I like the idea of the compression lock, but haven't quite convinced myself to invest in a knife with one yet. Despite a lot of opposition to them, I've never minded liner locks, and it seems like a compression lock would be an improvement.

Thoughts?

My ATR and Superhawk have ZERO blade play.
Actually, it's the most secure feeling lock I've encountered yet(seems to beat the AXIS and ball lock by a bit).
If there's play, it's defective or abused.
