Now it's here...modding the sheath...

I know right! The timing does stink a bit though - I probably won't get to do much with it until at least next weekend; really busy week at work. But that's ok, at least its here and ready for action!

Fondle her, caress her, tell her she's beautiful. By the time you're ready to use her she'll cut down a building for you!

Hey Semper Praesidio....

Thanks for your purchase...... Although I love all my children equally, there is a special place in my affections for the Sweet Sixteen...... I think you will really enjoy her and I hope to hear how you like her when you get a little time on the trail with her...... Thanks again ....

Ethan

Congratulations on the new steel mate, I know you've been looking forward to it, the 16 feels great in hand doesn't it.

So I know that posting on older threads is considered kind of bad form, but it's not THAT old and it was one of my own so that makes it ok, right?

I spent 2 hours with my BK16 today, carving shavings to dry out tinder for a fire on Monday (toasting marshmallows). This blade is so great! Two straight hours and almost ZERO fatigue in my knife hand.

Thanks again to Uncle Ethan for these great designs!

My only complaint is the sheath - but only because of the color. Wish it were black. Found a thread from last year where someone used RIT dye to turn it black. May have to try that.

Anyone have a recommendation on powder vs. liquid RIT dye?
Just make sure it's well dissolved and blended.

Check the directions but I think liquid will be 2x what you need. If powdered, use the whole box.

And use a container that's just big enough so the dye will be concentrated.

Thanks, Travis. Any recommendations on type of container? Also, should I try to take the blade insert out first?

Something like 9x13 roasting pan at least 2" deep. A bread or loaf pan would be ideal if they're made that long. Preheat it with hot water before adding boiling water dye mix.

The insert is sewn in but it should be okay.
