Now it's time...

The stated purpose of boot training is to "tear them down and rebuild then into men". They will do their best to "rearrange you", but the real purpose is to create instant response to orders and situations which happen too fast for rational thought, thinking any way but "the way", or thinking at all. Incoming won't wait for you to make up your mind. Work at it, work with them. No matter how stupid or unrelenting the training seems, it will prepare you for worse. At the end, you will be surprised that all of the original "you" is still there. Others may comment on how much you have changed.

I don't think John will have any problems with the Army Way. He's had some serious training on "adaptability" already.
He will be miles ahead in many areas from the get-go.
 
My supervisor told me today that he thinks I'll be in the Army a lot longer than the two years I've signed up for initially. He said he sees me in OCS in the near future. I guess we'll see...
 
You will probably get an offer. Look it over and if it looks good go for it. There's worse things to do in life by far.
