Maybe you can live with 8 inches overall.
$295 Randy Doucette Black Locust

The RC-6 is an amazing knife. If your limit is $300 you can discount all the Busse's because I highly doubt you'll get 6"+ of INFI for that.

You could also look at some custom makers (John Landi comes to mind) regarding a project. Custom built with whatever you have in mind, steel, handles, shape, ergos, options (sheath, lanyard hole, choils, etc).

I now have 3 folders so i think i have enough of those for now. (zt 0350 zt 0300 benchmade 610 rukus) i want a hard use Fixed blade (for the zombie invasion of course)

The Scrap Yard Scrapper 5 LE is an outstanding EDC. I have several of the combat grade version and I havent put mine down yet. More than worth the price by 300% IMHO.
The specs on the Scrapper 5 LE are as follows:
Steel: INFI
Handle: Resiprene C Mudder Style
Blade Length: 5 & 1/4"
Blade Thickness: 3/16"
Overall Length: 10 & 1/4"

Hope this helps.

OOPS LET ME FIX THAT.... 6-7 INCH blade

dam i found info about the scapper but i was looking at a scrapper 6 and thought it was the same thing. then i seen it was a scrapper 5. the scrapper 6 is prob around the size i wanted

Don't beat it with a hammer and it will do just fine. I punched about 30 holes in a new burn barrel with mine last weekend. Worked great and sliced tomatoes and onions with after for a BBQ. I have no worries about it!:D:thumbup:

What? No batoning bolts? What kind of user are you, babying your knife like that.

The GB is an excellent knife, a little pricey, but still excellent. If you're considering CRK you might also want to look at the one piece lineup, they are getting disco'ed at the end of the year.

Go over to the exchange a go to the Busse section and wait and wait then wait some more. Then have someone watch while you use the restroom or shower. Then wait some more. Finally you will find a Scrapper or Swamprat or Busse you want. Then buy it and never give it up!!!:D:thumbup:

:)

The RAT Cutlery RC-6 would be an excellent choice as would an Ontario Ranger RD-6/RD-7, a Ka-Bar Becker BK-7, or a Scrap Yard Scrapper 6 (if you can find one).

For the zombie apocalypse, you need the Warren Thomas Naginata. ;)

Otherwise, I like the Becker lineup. I have the BK2 and love it. Looking to get the BK11, BK7 and BK9.

Don't forget to aim for the head. :p

Re-curves are the best for zombie killin about 15-18 inch blade length for that though, but on back-up I would like to have a BRKT bravo 2. It has a nicely shaped handle that won't start slippin when the zombie blood's a drippin and the nice high convex grind would aid in head removal. The A2 steel is also very easy to sharpen and holds a edge for a long time, a dull knife is not something you want when a zombie is running at you. Its also available in many different handle materials so you could mix it or match it to the rest of the zombie killing tools.

ok don't take the zombie invasion thing serious. i don't need a foot long blade. i have a gun for the zombies or i will get a sword. just want a nice fixed blade to take a beating. somewhere in the 6-7 inch range (give or take a .5 inch)

rat 5 looks really nice but seems like 1095 needs a lot of care. they tell u over and over again on there page.

busse tank buster with my options would only be about 340 (plus sheath depending on what that would cost). would have to save for a month or 2 for this though. not like i need it now anyway. a big knife but not too big and would still bring with my camping or hiking

the scrapyard i posted the handle looks like it would hurt your hand or feel weird with the big hump on the back. dam good deal though. cant find a sheath for it though.

check out David brown kydex sheaths. very nice, good price and good guy to deal with.
