looking for a good folder for every day carry. but big and strong enough for hunting/fishing. if i forget my fixed blade. Thinking mini rukus from benchmade but open to other ideas. how are the usa made benchmade knives

The Mini Rukus would be a GREAT choice or a Benchmade 710. You really cant go wrong with a good Benchmade. GOOD LUCK! Kevin:thumbup:

I also recommend the 710 in D2. I'd take that with me into the woods any day.

The mini rukus and the 710 are both incredible knives. You can't talk about heavy duty knives without mentioning the spyderco manix and the benchmade griptilian series, especially the D2 and the ritter grip. Another knife that I have to mention in that price range is the Blade-Tech Pro-Hunter Extreme. I just traded for one and I am extremely impressed with it.

for your purposes you cant really go wrong with the:

Benchmade rukus, 710, or ritter grip also the spyderco manix is a heck of a knife.

Go to a dealer (if you can) and handle the knives and get a feel for them all and then choose which one you like the feel of and how it rides in your pocket

Hey BIG!
There are alot of quality knives that would be great EDC's without $pending the entire $150.00. Benchmade Griptilian with part/serrated 154CM blade comes to mind. A New BM Dejavoo would be awesome, I love mine. But if you really want $pend it all try a Military Variant from Spyderco Or maybe a Lone Wolf T2 Harsey. BlackHawk Crucible. I am hopeing to pick up a TOPS CQT Spearpoint... N690co Ti & G10 Around $160.00. I Just realized how hopeless it is to Pick just ONE(1) I guess thats why we all have more than (1) Good Luck "BIG"!!!! ~baba~

You can get a pretty good knife for what you need for ~$30 at wal-mart- the Buck 110.

Welcome Big Rich!

Any of the Benchmade's listed above and some that aren't (Skirmish, mini-Skirmish, et al). Also, I can't argue with FUDO, the Buck 110 is hard to beat if you'll accept a lockback. Otherwise, any BM you see that fits into your idea of the right size will be a purchase you'll likl=ely not regret. BM's USA line is hard to top.... in any category and for any price.

For the woods, can't beat the Griptilians. A BM mini Grip and CS XL Vaquero or Voyager in tandem are my choice for a trip into the backwoods. One to prepare dinner, the other to help protect you from becoming dinner.

Matador-

Spyderco Caly 3 CF ZDP is worth a look if you want something with a blade under 3". I love mine and it is worth every penny of the 150 it cost.

WWW.gpknives. com has the 710 for 103.00 and the 745 for 87.50. The benchmade 14205 HK is very nice 3.4" blade g-10 handel BladeHQ has them for 113.95.

Benchmade is the best production knife made. The Rukus and mini are fantastic knives.
