I am sure that other PLB on market as just as good as the McMurdo fastfind. The differance between a PLB and Spot is that a spot reception is hit or miss according to many people who have used spot. A PLB uses the same technology as what is in a aircraft. THat and the montly fee charged by spot is what put me off of spot. when the new spot2 came out i believe it faced a recall of some sort. that was last spring when I was looking into a spot I am sure that has been worked out?
