Now this is scary

I haven't used that pistol. My IZH is perfect for mousing and ratting for close range. I spits the .177 out at about 500 fps, so there's no overpenetration. I've got a .22 Logun MKII on the way.

Where are you located at?

You're right that they're good firearms training. They cause the shooter to have better trigger control and follow through among other things.

By the way, I still looooove my M-43 Kuhkri. I loaned it to a fellow knife fan at work. Scared him and caused him to look into buying one.

Thanks to all for a such a broad base of knowledge on this forum.

I use a Diane 5G sometimes. (Springer quiet, flat trajectory, frighteningly accurate.) Other times, it's a Crosman 2240 or 2250, usually the 2250. Neither is the tackdriver that the Diane is, both are quite noisy, and CO2 can be a real drag when it's cold out, but the .22 caliber pellets hit like a ton of bricks and when you tune them a bit, the Crosmans are not bad airguns.

I have serious overpenetration issues with all of them, especially the Diane. Even with Crow Magnums, it's not unusual to smack a starling at 20 yards (with an audible impact and a flinch from the bird) and watch it fly up to a branch, look at me oddly, and die. It happens even more commonly with the .22's. (Explain that to me.) Sometimes I wonder if I don't need less power. I used to go after the little monsters with a Walther semiauto and while the accuracy wasn't all that, when I hit them, they always fell in place.

Try the Drozd. Not for hunting - for everything else. 'Nuff said.

Edit: I'm in western WA. Forgot to answer that, got carried away on the airguns. (Not an uncommon occurance for me.)
