Now what about a Survival Blade.

I just recently made a topic on what blade I should get for a fixed survival/defense blade, something between 6" to 7.5". From what I have seen and heard the RAT Rc-6 is one of the best. Now I am looking for one of the better surivival blades, if I am hiking/camping or end of the world stuff. I was looking at like the Cold Steel Trail Master, Ontario SP5, Busse Battle Mistress, myabe one of BRKT larger blades, not sure of what they have. Or even an Ontario RTAK II. Any recommendations?

Busse Battle Mistresses have 10"-11" blades, so they're bigger than what you're looking for. Probably more expensive too. Although the new CG Bushwacker @ $347 is a great deal. In the 6"- 7.5" range, my favorite is the Bark River Bravo 2.

The RAT RC-6 would be another great choice, and less expensive than the Barkie.
A Ka-Bar is another excellent knife in that size range, and one that won't break the bank.

what about the spyderco woodlander or forager. noone ever seems to mention these and i've been hearing a lot of good things about n690co. and they look like they would be great choppers. and if you want to go bigger like the battle mistress theres the forester model too.

Yes, the Ka-Bar Cutlass "machete" is an excellent, tough-as-nails, large knife. It can take anything you can throw at it. You can baton it to your heart's content, and it's an excellent chopper. I used one heavily for several years. It's larger than what you described in the OP, with a 10" blade. I have the Ka-Bar Kukri "machete" too, and greatly prefer the cutlass. I don't have personal experience with the new Beckers, but I've heard good things. Ka-Bar makes great knives.

If you're interested in something a little bit bigger, the Condor Combat Machete is a beast. A 13" blade of full-convexed sweetness. And less than $40!

Probably not a popular knife, but I have one & like it, is a Breeden PeaceMaker. Mine has a 6 1/8" O-1 blade with orange G-10 scales & a HD leather sheather with 2 fire-steel loops.

That & my CS Bushman are a great combo for camping/survival stuff. I also usually have a lg. folder or a smaller/personal FB on me, which was a RAT3 D2, but now is a RAT HEST or a Busse Game Warden.

Thank you very much for the reply, I think I am not leaning towards either the Ka-Bar Cutless, or the Becker. So what I am looking to have, lets say I am camping, or surviving the end of times, what I plan to have on me knife wise, are and RAT RC-6, a Cutless Machete, or Becker from Ka-Bar, and a folding knife, I am pretty sure on which one I would take with me, got a decent inventory of folders at my disposal.

An RC-6, a Becker and a good folder sounds like a pretty darned solid setup. That should serve you well. With the big chopper and folder covered, you might not need the big-honkin' RC-6 though. An RC-4 would probably do everything you'd need in the "mid-range, all-round" category. :)

I recently bought a Fiddleback Forge Woodsman as a SHTF "only one knife" blade. I was thinking survival and bushcraft not zombie killin though. I am quite happy with the purchase.

Go custom & get what you want ;) I like my "LOBO" by JK Handmade knives(Stomper here on BF)

Would the RC-6 be a good defensive blade?

Take a look at the Fallkniven range of knives. They have a knife for every occasion.
Start with the S1. If it is too large, choose the F1. If it is too small, choose the A1.

I myself use the F1 or H1 and the small WM1 as backup. They are more or less indestructable, extremely sharp and keeps an edge for a very long time.
For about 100 bucks you get a knife that will last a lifetime :) The F1 is also the Swedish AF issue survival knife.

The tang goes out the back of the handle, the spine is really sharp and great for firesteels and you can choose between different sheaths. It works as well on a nice outing with the family as on a spec op deep behind enemy lines. :)

Cool I will definitely look into Fallkniven, they where one of my choices also, some very nice blades they have.

Becker BK 7 is good choice but RC-6 is what I heard excellent knife. With RC-6's warranty you cannot lose.

You just missed out on the Busse Tank Buster by a week, 6" blade.

I just ordered the Ka-Bar Becker BK9 for my survival type blade. Around my price range for $70 dollar range. Now for a fixed blade, I am looking at a RAT knife, the RC-6 or an RC-5.

go with a bill sanders or jimmy lile knife or farid,or martin knives.
martin knives makes really good hand made survival knives.
you would be pleased.
