Well my Nitrous Blitz and 710 came today. This has left me feeling kind of lost. I have wanted the Blitz for as long as I can remember. I have a Grip so I am good in that department. So my question is now what knives should I look at. If the Nitrous Styker wasn't discontinued this would be much easier. I have a HD 13150-1 on my list but that is it for Benchmades. So help me out, please!

My criteria:

$100 or less.

Made in USA. (Or Japan.)

Plain edge blade of 3" or greater. 3.25" or over is preferable.

Can be either assisted but I will be happy either way.

Can be any lock type.

Much appreciation!

Spyderco manix or manix xl. Good price point for the knife you get. Any reason why only us made?

LOL, last time I checked the Manix wasn't made by Benchmade. ;) OK - the hundred mark is a tough call, and if you won't consider Grips, the next best thing would be the Presidio Ultra models 522/527. These are good knives and are made in the USA. BTW - I don't buy anything not made here, there's no reason to buy anything made anywhere else IMO.

He didn't list he just wanted benchmade in the criteria.... just usa made. If he wants nothing but benchmade, then not too many options below 100 $. So I threw out some other great knives with great materials to meet his price range.

No worries, I like Spydies too. Just couldn't pass up the opportunity...:D But I will stay with buying only USA-made knives whoever makes 'em thanks!

Ive been there on only buying U.S. but after getting some of my spydies from Japan/Taiwan I realised quality is just as good as the usa. But I understand where your coming from. I try to support local as much as I can

Well, this is the Benchmade subform. So I was mainly thinking Benchys but I am open to any good knife. Japan is fine. I have an Endura.

Yes this is a BM thread....I have both the 522 & 527...really nice. 440c steel though. Black series tact.

Well my I am still interested in a new BM. I really like my 710 because the blade is not really wide (from spine to cutting edge). Same for the Nitrous Blitz.

These are the knives I am considering:
580 (If I stretched my budget I could get a full size Warn)
Presidio Ultra
HD Nitrous (Did I mention I really like the Blitz?)
Lone Wolf Landslide (IDK if I would carry this though)

How wide is the 580's blade? If I could get a measurement of the base of the blade that would be wonderful.

There is a BM 910 Stryker in the exchange. Swore i'd hold out on knife-buying until March or else i'd buy it myself!

I love it! Deploy super fast with a loud Snap. I've carry mine a hand ful of times and sometimes I forgot I am carrying it...one thing I must say about the BM A/O...it's spring strength is strong...much stronger than the Kershaw speed safe. There is no way you can close one handed...

About the grip...not as grippy like the Griptilian but enough...there is a blade lock mehanism on top of handle which lock the AXIS. Open or close, you can lock the axis...fixating the blade.

I've seen the 580 selling for $95 shipped on the bay. I would not pay anything above $105

I was unexpectedly at a BM dealer today. I got to handle the 580.
Pros:

About perfect size

Fast opening

I, personally, liked the safety/lock

Handle had medium grip about like a coated Kershaw

Cons:

Closing the knife and how. That was the only thing that irked me. I am spoiled with the nitrous Blitz because I can close it one handed super easily.

I don't know what I am going to do. I will probably just sit still will my wallet works out the sting.

Smart... If you are not sure...better wait...but like I said, have a few on your list. Once a great deal presents itself... Take it.
