At the last CBKC meeting Larry asked me to try out one of his pocket scapels on the next deer I got. Shot one last Fri. evening and skinned it today. The knife is forged D2 about 5 1/2" overall with a 1 1/2 to 2" blade. It worked very well for it's size to completely skin a large, about 120 pound doe. I didn't have it on me to try it field dressing but after using it for skinning I wouldn't hesitate using it for the complete job. Larry if you have another post some pics. It's a dandy little cutter you could easily slip into you pocket.

Larry this thread got pushed a couple of pages back. If you have a pic, post it. The scapel worked great. I'll bring it to the show this weekend.

Scott has the one with a hammered finish handle. These 2 are wraped.

Nice handles!! How do you think the wrap would hold up with blood and animal fluids on it? I think you could grip the knife better with the wrap.

Neat lookin knives. Ought to be real handy :D I have to agree with Scott though, I'd want at least a wrap on it (epoxy coated?) if I was gonna be gettin into blood an stuff. Course the hammered finish sounds interesting, might give a pretty good grip.
