NRA Convention

Especially since Sal already said why.
Nothing to do with politics.

yep. as i mentioned in my post. you cut off that part but i included it for those who dont backwards to read threads.....

wrong place for politics.......but glad Sal, Eric and spyderco are above this political back and forth nonsense and are focused on their customers. thats what matters.

I was actually thinking about going if Spyderco was going to be there. Thank you for clarifying Sal.

It would have been nice to see a Spyderco display at the NRA annual meeting, as it seems my Blade Show 2018 plans may have been sabotaged by my wife making commitments to attend two events in early June. (I seem to be the only family member who remembers to check the calendar, before agreeing to be somewhere on a specific date.)

Many knife companies will be there. Benchmade, ZT/Kershaw, Cold Steel, Microtech, Case, Buck and on and on.

I went to the exhibits today, and there were a LOT of exhibits. I walked through pretty fast and only stopped at a small percentage of exhibits and it took me 3 1/2 hours. I noticed booths by Benchmade, Cold Steel, Emerson, Case, Buck, TOPS, CRKT. Benchmade had several people set up to do repairs and sharpening. I think it would be a good place for Spyderco to exhibit in future years.

Add Boker, Southern Grind, Ontario Knife Co, KA-BAR and a few others I didn't recognize. I somehow missed Buck. We spent several hours there on Friday and we still didn't have time (or desire) to see everything.

I agree that it would be a great show for Spyderco. If they were there this past weekend it would've been the highlight of the show for me.

Please consider joining kniferights, who in fact have huge crossover with NRA and Second Amendment Foundation, et al. Freedom is never free. 15 million people claim membership in NRA and we have 6 million dues paying members;
so today sign up a friend, a loved one, and someone from the left as they crash far left in their epileptic fits of unreasonable ill informed unwise decisions.
but i don't have strong feelings about any of this-

Plenty of us on the "left" also desire and support the freedom to carry whatever we want. I, personally, don't want to support organizations that see all issues as zero sum. That said, I won't be at the NRA convention to see if Spyderco goes in the future and I'll continue to support the company and buy their knives either way.

Showing support by buying Spyderco product is the perfect first vote, you might also consider supporting kniferights before it is to late.

We are still allowed opinions in this great exceptional experiment called America. My suggestion for supporting kniferights included two example organizations that are experiencing success, not because of the civilian gun or knife industry but literate well informed boots on the ground, fighting for God given rights affirmed by our constitution. About 4 and a half percent of American's polled, 15 million, said they are NRA members, even our enemies, foreign and domestic, would have a hard time pigeonholing that number right or left. Carry on BUT stay free!

Allow me please if you will to repeat myself because I and my brothers and sisters have been fighting many decades and the plan of succession is to multiply not divide:
"Carry on BUT stay free!"

I enjoyed going but from my standpoint it was just a huge trade show. I will go again given the opportunity but don't need to go for awhile. I've heard of people that go every year but this seems like too much work to me. I was disappointed that there weren't more things to do such as classes, demonstrations, displays that weren't involved with trying to sell you something, etc.

Of course we're allowed our opinions. As I wrote, mine is clearly a minority opinion among gun owners. I have a longer reply in my head but it seems inappropriate here. Happy to take to to a new thread on a different forum.

Sort of back on topic, I was surprised to read that Sal (and Eric?) were at the Oregon knife show in April. I didn't make it, but that would have been another reason to go. Very small show compared to Blade, Shot, The Gathering, and others. Very sorry I missed them.

I'm not on the left and I own guns. I just don't buy the NRA party line. My opinion only. I get that many will disagree with me. No question I'm in the minority as a gun owner.

High fives to both of you gents.

Am I correct in assuming the NRA is “protecting” one of the largest suppliers to military and law enforcement—a Belgian company? If so I hope they are paying their fair share as well. Because it would be hypocritical for a country without gun rights for individuals, and also a champion against those rights, to profit from the freedom we hold dear, while supporting oppression and presumably supported by their home government, no?
