I was wondering what was the status on the NRG. It looks like a very interesting knife, with the pseunetic opening system. Care to shed some light on this knife Thomas??

Not stepping on Thomas' toes.
The NRG (pronounced energy) is one of the fastest,
if not the fastest A/O I have ever seen.
2.8" blade 3.75" closed on the NRG 1740
3.5" blade 4.75" closed on the NRG II 1745
G-10 Handles with Trac Tec inserts
Sandvik 13C26

If I'm not mistaken Lee Williams? is the one responsible
for the pseunetic opening

With a retail of $80 and $100 respectively, along with Kershaw's reputation
I see a good deal.

I might get one in a few months after I recover from my last purchase. :)

The NRG is a Lee Williams design. The disappearing flipper tab seems to be just like on Lee's custom models with what he calls the kick stop mechanism. I recall someone describing it (the kick stop) as the tab serves as both the actuator and a floating stop for the blade.

Anyway, I look forward to this model very much and intend to purchase one straight away. I believe July or maybe August was the last I read for when they might first start popping up.

The NRG's is still a ways out. Production could have changes from the current proto's floating around. I'll keep you posted. We are hoping for June/July delivery.

This was posted in the old Kershaw News Thread on 04/23/2007.

Hopefully there will be some new pics available sometime soon, I'm still curious to see what it looks like closed.

We are really excited about the NRG's. They will be the next generation flipper to be sure. I really believe you all will dig the pseunetic opening. It is a real smooth operator. There will be proto's at the Blade Show.

Great maker in Lee Williams, sweet design, made in the US, all packaged together with a $45-55 street.

We are hopeful for a late July delivery.

The NRG's have not been shipped to date, so it must be an error on their site.

Sure is pretty

And I was wrong in my first post in this thread. The details
now state the 1740 is 4.75" closed and the 1745 is 5.5".

Can someone explain the opening mechanism in more depth and it's hard to tell from the photo but does the blade have any recurve? Thanks.

I don't know where you got those new Specs but they're not true according to Kershaw's website at this moment.
