This is number 2 hasiya from BirGorkha and it's gone already. An old nephew who was at the Reno convention emailed from his offshore drilling rig and took this one sight unseen.

It's also made by Sanu and so marked and it is highly doubtful that you will ever see a hasiya like this one used in the fields of Nepal. This one would be for ceremonial purposes only if, indeed, one like this were ever to be produced outside BirGorkha. This is outstanding work by Sanu and I'll just let the pix save me a thousand words. My only comment is there is some sort of special little deal that Sanu hung on the buttcap. It means something but what I'm not sure.

This hasiya is 14 inches overall with 5 inch handle, 1/4 thick and weighs about 19 ounces.

If anybody wants one of these I'll order them up. Price is $95 delivered to your door.

I want one, but it will be a good while before I can pay.

It is truely beautiful Uncle. WOW!!!

I love the blade etching. This would be one for the mantle... a great and beautiful discussion piece.

OOhhhh... aaahhhh (sounds similar to watching fireworks).

Sanu out did himself on this one. It is a work of art! When you find out what the buttcap means, please post it. This one will go on my wish list. It is simply awesome.

Whew! Now I can go walk the puppies... I was waiting to see what this one would be and didn't want to miss out if it was a good price. Gone before it was posted...

Now that is cheating!!!

Now this one would have really tempted me, if I had not locked up the credit cards and resolved to not buy any more knives (at least until the current orders are all in my hands). Really spectacular.

Uncle Bill, can you give any more details about the handle materials?

Uncle Bill:

Please ask about the handle materials, the buttcap attachment, and the inlays around the middle of the handle - they don't appear to be a decorative pattern - more like lettering of sorts - ???

I coul'd do more than guess at the materials but the dots spell out "NEPAL" around the middle of the handle.

4 I/2" handle and 11 overall make me think of the CBKC more than the 12" sirupati.
5" handle and 14" overall is about right for a village model.

Almost suggested a 5" handle and 15" overall. Now I think 5 1/2" and 16 1/2" might be better due to lighter weight than comparable length khuks. And a 25" Kobra hasiya at about 25 ozs....... gotta wipe the drool from the keyboard.

God, can you imagine a wife turned into outraged mama grizzly with a 16 1/2 or 18"?

The handle is buff horn with hatchmark pattern as you might be able to see. The metal work in the middle of the handle does indeed spell out "Nepal" and I should have posted that. The pommel I suspect is held in place by compression and Himalayan Epoxy. Sanu has put a brass pin into the end of the pommel with a hook to hold the little icon. I'm not sure if this represents a buff head and horns or not but I know it has some meaning but what? This one also has the V shaped spine like the khukuris which is straight as an arrow.

I've got this piece laying on my desk right beside the keyboard and I pick it up every now and then and my admiration for the skill of these kamis just keeps on growing.

With the skill displayed in these hasiyas, I can't wait to see what they do with the falcata project. Bill, have you sent Anton's excellent model yet, or are things in Nepal still too rocky for comfort?

I may have to order a hasiya for an uncle of mine. He's an avid gardener and would probably find a use or two for it. What all types of chores are they used for?
